I've noticed that Einstein can be a little bit more sensitive to high OC's. You might try turning it down slightly and see if that resolves the errors you are seeing.

Turn up my wick?? I'm running at 4.5 right now haha. I shouldve kept running subset sum when it started. I was first because I was the only one on the team running it at the time hahaha.

Just saw this FreeHAL thing on the BAM! site

http://boincstats.com/en/stats/challenge/team/chat/313

It could be good in helping us for the project of the month goal, possibly.

Update on our progress:

Climate Prediction - We are currently predicted to pass MuseGlobal to become 168th in 60 days, but Raytheon is expected to overtake us in 32 days. This project has the longest work units in all of BOINC, running for almost 300 hours. It's unlikely that we will make the goal, but it all depends on how many work units are currently being crunched, since credits are earned throughout the crunching of a work unit instead of the traditional completion of a work unit.

Einstein@Home - BOINCstats predcits that we will earn the goal of being 73rd in 15 days. Very likely that we will make it.

FreeHAL - We have already achieved our goal in this project.

SubsetSum@Home - BOINCstats says that we will make our goal for this project in 8 days.

I can confirm ku4jb's comment about SubsetSum@Home running faster on Linux. I booted up VirtualBox, and used Ubuntu 12.10 with 3 processing cores.

On Windows, the runtime for the tasks are around 4500-4600 seconds (~75 minutes).
On Linux, the runtime for the tasks are hovering in the 3400 second area (~56 minutes)
Credits seem to be static at 94.05 per task.
That's an increase of 25.4% for just using Linux!

The only downside I've found is a heavy lag occurs which are worse than PrimeGrid GPU work units. This happens if I allocate all cores on the virtual machine and have all cores crunching work, as well as when I have 3 cores doing dedicated crunching on the linux work units and 1 core doing a work unit on Windows.

Took me a while, but I got 2 work units from them. They are UK Met Office Coupled Model Full Resolution Ocean 6.07 and take close to 300 hours to complete.

Hm. I wonder how much Subsetsum times would improve for me. I already am sitting around 3400-3600 seconds on windows at 4.2Ghz. If I can get any faster with ubuntu, I may try it out.

But dang! 300 hour work unit? Interesting how it credits as you go. I've never seen that concept work before. Do they just like.. checkpoint you every now and then? I actually wouldn't mind running one of those haha. Sounds intense.

You might be able to shave that down to the mid-high 2000s area if you run them in Ubuntu.

Climate Prediction checkpoints you. So far, I've earned 1,244 credits through 2 work units that have completed 33 hours of crunching.
