Push/Pull or just Push? Is P/P worth it?

Thread Starter
The title pretty much says it all, should I stay with push config or go to push/pull? I'm using the stock fan that came with it right now. I'm using a Hyper 212+. Only problem I've had with it is it blocks a RAM slot but oh well. What about just a pull configuration? And should I tape the open area between the fan and the heatsink closed to create a duct? A lot of air comes out of there and I was wondering if it reduces performance.

Could you take a picture and post it here?

Push/Pull will lower your temp, but dont expect a miracle to happen though.

Yes it works better with Push/Pull,More air flow. All my rads. I have in push/pull configuration.

it might lower your temperature a couple degrees under load (2-4 probably) but i dont think it's worth it

Yeah I'll get to taking a few pics in a little bit. If I went with a plain pull config I could insert another stick of RAM but the fan in a push config blocks a slot.

I use the Hyper 212+ in my Server and using push/pull fans reduces temps by 2-3C at idle and 3-4C at moderate load. It is not an extreme overclocker's HSF though.

Push pull is good stuff. It made a 3-4 degree difference for my Noctua NH-D14. I'm not sure how the evo 212 cooler looks like, but is there any chance you can mount the fan higher on the heat sink? I had some issues with the Noctua in the past, it's huge and the fan would touch the ram sticks, but I could just move the fan up on notch on the teeth of the Noctua blades and it solved my problem.

It all depends on the situation, with a Hyper 212+ adding another fan won't make a huge difference, maybe 3 degrees. If you were using a thick rad with dense fins then it would make an enormous difference thumb.gif

I can't remember the exact fan model as I bought them a long time ago. But it's 120mm Coolermaster 120cfm fans with blue LEDs.
