12Gb but only 8Gb overclockble help please

Hello all i'm new to the forums I looked around for questions like mine but alast nothing..
I have my old Kingston DDR3 dual channel 1.5v 2x2Gb installed on my computer and just added 2x4Gb Kingston hyper x DDR3 dual channel 1.65v and is in default mode sitting unchanged in Bios which is 1.5v as the old memory

My question is Can i set the Hyper X memory to a slight overclock with out touching the other memory? Is removing the old memory from 12 Gigs to 8 Gigs and tweeking the 8 to higher volts lower clock going to be worth it?

Can someone maybe head me in the right area of a good ram setting for a overclock
as it is now @ 709 Mhz 9-9-9-24

Thanks ahead of time

Different rated voltages can already alone be indicative of a compatibility problem, but you also haven't told us of your RAM's rated speeds. What are they?

You might as well remove the extra 4GB, it is currently impossible to use more than 8GB of memory unless you run VMs or have 3 monitors trying to edit two HD videos at once or something.

Note the Hyper x memory is 3/4GX at the end of the part number
I was thinking that the 8 Gigs would do me ok and get rid of the old memory that is not over clockable as it might be slowing down the good ram to the same speeds as the old
I only really play older online games and youtube video the odd movie I used Vm ware once for my Comptiv A+ course in school lol Windows 8 ..waste of money Thanks for the help

The old Kingston appear to be generic, rated at DDR3-1333. That holds everything back. DDR3-1333 kits might not hit DDR3-1600 due to low binning. 1333 @ CL9 is a generic standard. You can throw any ICs onto that RAM, even crummy ones.

You'll make do just fine with 8GB though.

Memory speed is the least important setting for a normal PC, unless you live for collecting benchmarks, just leave it as is.

Maybe use the extra 4GB for a ramdrive ?
