i couldnt use the oc tool that came with my mobo,
ET6, the highest oc used 103blck also, no go for that one,
always better to oc in bios, by hand, i've learned so far,
and for ivy, dont use blck, just multiplier smile.gif

I'm running my 2500k at 4GHz 1.16v with stock cooling and it goes up to 85 ºC max on prime95 and up to 70 ºC while folding. It's been running like that for a year now.

I followed most of it last night switching things up but got too tired to run tests right now. I'm going on vaca for a couple of days, so I can't run a Prime95 Test and plus the Cooler Master comes in on Friday.

Ok I adjusted the voltages and increased to 4.2GHz @ 1.13V. Running P95 right now and Max temp is 75C.

And like I said earlier, I already ordered a CPU cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106178

I have just built a new system as well. I have a p8z77 Le plus, a 3570K, and 8 gigs kingston 1600 memory. I put a Cooler master T4 Hyper on... Thinking it would be similar to a 212... I am not sure if I am pushing to hard though. I have used the Asus auto over clock, and these are the results

It Auto OC's it to 4224MHz (103x41) with temps:

idle: 28-32 C
Prime95 torture for 5-10 mins 78-85C.

I terminated the test when it hit 85C

Is this normal? or should I revert to normal settings?

Either that cooler sucks which I'm positive it is, or your CPU Vcore is too high. Don't worry about 85C. The throttle temps for the i5 3570K is 102C i think, somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Right now I have my 3570k OC'd to 4.7Ghz with 1.39 Vcore, max temp was 78c in P95 and idle temps are 32C. See if you can adjust your OC manually.

I went in and changed from 103x41 to 100x42 and it is currently running Prime95 with temps of 70-75 on load after 15 minutes. It appears that the Auto tune on my board is not as good as I am. I am not very happy with the T4 Hyper though! I only bought it because they were sold out of the 212's. With a good cooler I think I may be able to go further, but for a crappy cooler 4.2 MHz is pretty good. Do you guys accept anything less than 80C as your comfort zone?

P.S. Thanks for the quick response.

Good, the fixed settings for OC are always set higher than usual that way it won't BSOD on you. Get a better cooler if you want, but 4.2GHz is fine. I went up to 89C before on my stock cooler at 4.2Ghz and i wasn't scared. Throttle temp is 102c or 105C. If you do reach those temps, your CPU will shut down so you won't fry your processor. Only a safety measure. Personally, I find it comfortable to have max temps at 70-80C.
Good luck with experimenting! Once I got a better cooler, I went from 4.1 all they way to 4.7, testing each level. And 4.7Ghz was the max I could climb without the Vcore scaling so high that it wasn't worth the high temperature for the extra 100MHz.
