oled is not amoled, and amoled is not super amoled, hence the slightly different names.

this is like saying pls is ips, it is not.

OLED TV's have AMOLED panels. Read some articles.

If they have an amoled panel, then they are in fact an amoled tv,
still, oled panel is not the same as amoled panel, and not the same as super amoled panel

This LG OLED HDTV is based on AMOLED panel technology.

However there is a difference between AMOLED and Super AMOLED.

Koehler claimed they "solved" that issue; but provided no evidence to support it.

but LG themselves admit it in clarity on their website. When you think about the $£$£$£$£$ and time invested unless it was a real problem then they would brush it under the carpet.

Its not like LED tv makers make a note of hotspotting or banding on their websites but burn in is a lot more serious

Its not like OLED was going to com along and fix every problem. There is no such thing as a perfect image. Ultra bright colours or deep blacks may impress as much as a 1mm thick curved design but if the image burns, or the motion is horrible then it fails to be perfect.

also a curved display wont look as good as a flat one on a wall, only on a stand or computer desk.

what i DO find interesting is the idea of an LED/LCD with the 120hz backlight strobe Tweak for 0 motion blur, and if combined with individual led per pixel displays then this could right now be as good if not better than OLED

LG leads industry with OLED TV
January 22, 2013

LAHORE (PR) – Speaking at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Electronics expressed confidence in LG’s ability to lead the next generation TV market.
“2013 is an important year because for LG, it marks the beginning of a new TV era,” said Kwon. “With game-changing products such as the OLED TV and Ultra HD TV, we are in a strong position strategically to lead the industry. Delivery of our Ultra HD TV well before the competition and the imminent release of our OLED TV in the first quarter of 2013 will give us a head start in a market where speed is a critical component of success.”
In order to gain an early foothold in the OLED TV market, Mr. Kwon said LG will launch its 55-inch OLED TV in North America, Central and South America, Europe and Asia in the first quarter of 2013. The company will increase R&D and investment in OLED TV technology and marketing to ensure that consumers see a strong link be-tween OLED and LG.

I feel sorry for anyone who blows their money on one of these considering that a Philadelphia based company has perfected the glasses-free 3D TV, that not only converts any content to the new 4k (2160p) resolution and can convert most content to 3D all in realtime and will cost half of what this TV cost. It's expected to hit the stores by fall this year. Google Ultra D TV. It will put OLED to shame.rolleyes.gif

OLED is a display technology. Ultra D is a 3D software algorithm.

I know that, but my point was that these OLED TV's are going to cost all this money for what? Because they're thin? But they'll be somewhat dated by the end of the year since they're still only 1080p. Meanwhile a person that doesn't mind waiting until the end of the year can buy a much better TV for less than half the price. I wasn't really trying to compare OLED and Ultra D, just state that it will make all the hype (and price tag) behind OLED seem unfounded. It will shame (what I meant by putting OLED to shame) the people who bought a $10,000 1080p TV when their neighbor has a $4,000 2160p 3D TV.

I guess I should have put "....it will put these new OLED TV's to shame.

My fault for not communicating my point well.
