As said these are rumours so dont get your pants in a twist as its from the inquirer :

THERE ARE plenty of rumours about the relative prices of Quad FX bits and bobbery and these are starting to frazzle our brain.
So we'd like to inform the ill-infromed that a computer powered by the upcoming all-terrain chip will fit snufly in a motherboard that is much cheaper than anyone anticipated.

Despite the rumour that a pair of Nvidian chipsets will cost the earth, the final retail/etail board will cost around $/€300. It means it will end up just a bit more expensive than Nvidia's flagship Nforce 680i Intel motherboard that sells for $/€270 already.

Sources from another part of the pound also confirmed that two FX CPUs will be "price competitive" with Kentsfield Intel's Quad core. This gives you an idea. We can also confirm that the first 4x4 Quad FX boards come from Asus only and the others to follow later.

Taken with a HUGE grain of salt, as it's from the Inquirer. Sounds pretty viable, though.
