Actually, let me say something about Nvidia colors. You actually CANNOT fix them, well, sort of. You can't achieve color accuracy to a standard. You can use your monitor's OSD to change some settings but you're never going to achieve colors accurate to a standard at any temperature that way. Most games will override any calibration at a software level, that includes changes to the desktop color in Nvidia control panel, Windows color profiles, 3rd party calibration software, and so forth. The only way to get machine accurate colors is to get a colorimeter and software to create a Windows color profile BTW. There is some software that may work for some games but more often than not they fail or they may set off anti-cheating systems.
AMD on the other hand CAN achieve accurate colors. Of course, it requires third party software, but it works. It takes a color profile, creates a LUT and loads it onto the graphics card (at a hardware level) and blocks changes to the LUT so games don't override it. You can't do that with Nvidia, they won't allow it and they've been ignoring the issue for quite some time.
There is another way but that's by having a monitor that has an accessible LUT. You can basically forget about that though.

This is partially untrue but ultimately true. You can either choose to go the windowed fullscreen route to retain colors or find some of those programs that apply color changes as exe launches, but they only work on exe games and have certain issues with launchers. If anyone cares that much to have perfect colors and the work they do requires it, they should be using Quadro and Firepro cards and should have no issues there. Your point remains that's it's more problematic on NV and AMD but I don't think it's a big issues. I hope as more gamers move to multi screen setups and more start to use windowed fullscreen this will become more of a non issue. Again though, your point remains.

A stock GTX 6xx card has turbo. A stock 7xxx card will throttle in some tasks. "Stock" is not a fixed clock speed, end of story.

I think what's absurd is the thought that we should change the meaning of "stock" tests , which defeats the purpose, because one company decided to change the game.

The entire point of "stock" tests were to eliminate skewed results when people compared them to OC'd results and try to keep everything in context. For example I could say that because my 460's do 925/2175 and beat stock 470's they're clearly superior to the 470s, we all know this is ludicrous because both have OC headroom and you can OC a 470 to overtake it and then pass a 480, ect.

The fact that NV decided that their cards can now OC 10-20% during loads, while it is good for plug and play gamers, skews the results in benchmarks to their favor and changes the meaning of "stock" benchies as it pertains to PC gamers.

While all of that is awesome for those everyday people (casuals/non gamers) who think I'm talking Japanese when I say "I have a sandy i5 @ 4.7, sammy ram @ so and so clocks, my 460's OC'd to this and that, with my Catleap and it has vram issues cuse of the 1gig" , we here in OCN know the difference between stock and MAX OC. We know most 7970's/680s don't hit 1400 and we settle on more normal avg max numbers like 1250 7970 vs 1325 680 when we want to bench "high average" OC.

The spirit of "Stock" tests were to not include OC and to stay base, just because a 1025 680 boosting to 1175 beats a 925 7970 this does absolutely nothing for our members but skew results and perpetuate NV's image of superiority. One card is basically closing in on their max OC while the other has way more headroom and can make up a lot of distance when it gets OC'd.

We're not regular people who go to BB and buy those $500+tax 2GB 670's with reference coolers and have the "Geek Squad" install them for us.

We're the people who buy Korean 27" IPS QHD screens to OC them and mess with drivers, we casually break the old cardinal rule about mixing water and electronics in the chase of performance, decapitate CPU's (Ivy) tongue.gif, volt mod our GPUs then bake them when we fry them and hope to revive them lachen.gif .

The point is most of us here know better, we know what stock is supposed be and when know what isn't, just because NV wants to change the meaning of "stock" and wants to add a boost doesn't mean we should test apples to apples on juice.

I demand we retest Lance Arms....errr I mean Jen-Hsun Huang cards and put them at an actual stock tongue.gif I kid I kid, but you guys get my point.

I know some will disagree but this is my take on "stock", but like I said anything that helps us out as gamers from either company is a good thing, FC3 should be fixed soon......Skyrim.......good luck..... but general lantencies improvements for smoother gameplay is welcomed. thumb.gif

'

Is Gamebryo the same as Creation Engine and Fallout Engine?

Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 use Gamebryo AFAIK - same as Oblivion and Morrowind.
And the first Fallout use Fallout engine.

If they are the same, then that's dumb LOL.
