What does ULPS do for single GPU configs? I know it turns off the second card for CFX, but why is it enabled in single card configs?

Hey all,
I was looking at other people's 3dmark11 scores for the Sapphire 7870 XT and noticed that mine was a bit low, so I flashed it with the Powercolor 032 bios from a hardforum thread. It was originally on 030.

Stock
030: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6201784
032: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6202156

1150/1500 (overclocked through CCC)
030: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6201916
032: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6202191

I think it changed the fan profiles, though. On the original bios, my card never went above 72 degrees with 54% fan usage during 3dmark 11. On the 032 bios, the card hit 78 degrees and wouldn't bring the fan above 44%. (both temps at stock)

How are people hitting graphics scores of 9000?

What's your CPU?

Does anyone know if Sapphire use TIM on their VRMs? When my card gets back from RMA, I want to reapply the TIM on the core and VRMs, if they use TIM.

Is it possible to use thermal pads instead?

Does CPU affect the graphics score, though?

is power set to +20%? if it is set unofficial overclocking to "without powerplay support" in afterburner

i hit 9000 with a amd phenom x3 3.7 so i doubt a cpu problem

yes as iv stated many times there tim is junk look back at my other post i have recomended thermal pads for it i would replace core with sone good tim ... soon ima be posting in the cooling ati section about how i cool my card i need my vrm block

as far as scores go and other ... bull**** imo... pop in ur favorit game and see how it goes iv had overclocks that are bentchmark stable 24 hrs but crash in my favorit games ... my best example is prototype 2
even my lower oc card and cpu crash in prototype 2 even after a full day of kombustor/prime just to show imo nothing tops a fyew hrs of real world testing

thats just to say synthedic anything is full of it if u score 3000 but can run ur fav game maxed at 60 ... who cares there just synth they mean very little compared to real world
