I don't really care about the noise but bang for buck is always good, how many fans does the h220 come with? I'm assuming 2 but I'd like to set up p/p.

Right now on my h100 I'm using 1 COUGAR CF-V12HP Vortex and 3 Coolermaster stock fans that came with the h100 and my previous h60.

so how does the Cougar stand in relation to the Helix or should I keep the Cougar, should i use the 2 stock fans from the h220? I dont mind spending like 50 bucks on some fans just for a few degrees.

I'm thinking the cougar, the 2 stock fans from the h220, and 1 new good fan. what do you think? thanks for your help

I've owned the COUGAR CF-V12HP. They are good fans however, 2 of my fans started making noises when not running at full speed. I also had them mounted horizontally. Apparently there are a lot of other users that have had the same problem when running them horizontally. I ended up returning those and got the NF-F12's. If you are planning on using the 2 stock helix fans then you might as well buy another 2 of them to run in a push/pull config. They go for about $12 bucks each plus shipping. The non PWM version goes for $6 on Amazon.
the non pwm fans arent the same but the specs are close. and yes, you are best off with 4 of the helix fans in my opinion

I would suggest a second set of helix PWM fans for best bang for the buck. I have been testing the helix vs GT and found both measured the same max noise level. The GT AP-15 swap did improve temperatures by about 1.8C on my very hot 3930K however the lack of PWM control is a real bummer for utilizing all that PWM technology to auto speed control.

Best bang for the buck upgrade while retaining the same great PWM capability will be push pull helix. I got a 2.7c temp decrease with push plus pull helix vs just the push helix.

I like the idea of PWM, but I'm not very sensitive to noise, so I bought 5 Helix non-pwm fans for $30 and got free shipping to boot thumb.gif. I already had one, and will be getting the H220 and an MCR220-QP, so I'll be set to cool my 3820 and Komodo'ed 7970.

Yeah and if you plan to run full speed all the time, Amazon has some for only $6ea. That's a steal.
