Everything that they've unveiled at CES has been ridiculously overpriced. I think their ego is starting to get to them.

They can set those high prices because people are willing to pay them.

this is not new, nearly every major company does it, esp. in tech ( nearly all sub $50 headphones come from the same manufacturer ) Most panels for Tv's and Monitors come from either 2 or 3 diffrenet manufacturers, if companies didn't do that, the cost for every day items would be astronomical.

EDIT: also for this price point, onboard memory would be a very nice feature, but would also go against their ( terrible ) synapse software, but i'm still waiting on the update to add the nostromo to synapse, that way I can merge it with my naga, their origninal release for the software update was in august-october of last year, but with this new product, that may never happen

Razer released drivers for Windows 8 for the Nostromo. They've said many times "SOON" on facebook to have it included with Synapse. I agree though, it may never happen now. They have some software issues to fix with Orbweaver. Right out of the box the direction D-PAD isn't working in the intended directions you push it in.

Regarding the busted D-Pad diagonal movements not working at all, or even moving you in the wrong direction.

Down and Right moves you Up and Left, / Up and left you back and right. No amount keybind configurations or "Joystick" assignments will fix this. I've tried it all.

Left, right, up , down is all we get until they update Synapse. Which could be months despite the comment below, we know how Razer works.

Thanks for your understanding.

Our team is currently working on high priority to get a fix. Right now there is no ETA, we should have an update during next week.

Thank you for your time and support of Razer.

It's about 101% better quality than the Nostromo. The D-Pad on the Nostromo is abysmal in every facet of the word. But I dealt with it because of the convenience and how much quicker and accurate it made me in my games.

The build quality feels and looks superb. The keys feel great, although loud, which I'm not used to since the nostromo was so quiet, different keys etc. However it suffers from terrible press/delay sometimes. (the nostromo, which most people don't even realize)

The Orbweaver does not. The adjustable palm rest is my favorite I think, I leave it unlocked so it tilts when my hand needs it to. The new spacebar button is quite nice as well, barely tapping it works, very responsive,

It's worth it to me, aside from the horrible D-Pad bug, as long as that gets fixed I'll keep it, fixed in a reasonable amount of time. like..next week. smile.gif

Thanks for this! I actually just created a thread asking about it before I came to this thread. Yeah, it's crazy bonkers and at least this is a better response than mine saying that I should reinstall the software....

Also on Windows 8, their drivers crash if you spam the keys, hitting multiple of them at the same time very fast. I was bored waiting during a loading screen for WoW, and the damn computer BSOD on me with their driver front an center!

Took the orbweaver into work and tried it out on a clean win8 machine, boom same issue... I freakin hate Razer, but I love these keypads. So far not impressed by their software at all. Hopefully if they fix the dpad thing really soon, I'll get to try using it and really know what's like. And as long as you don't spam too many keys at the same time, it shouldn't BSOD on you either, lol.

The keys are loud because they are Cherry Blue keys. I'm surprised they didn't go with Red or Brown, but alas here's hoping that Logitech bring out a new version of the G13 soon.

The adjustable palm rest is not as good as I was hoping for. It's too high and can't go lower. It may be the case that I'm just used to my G13, which has a lower profile.

The other issue I have is that I have big hands and because of the height of the palm rest I have to stretch hard or lift my hand to hit the top row of keys. it's not great, and the top row could have really benefited from a slightly different profile.

Overall the quality is not that great i think. The dpad section is fairly unstable, though the dpad is ok other than the software issues. It's not as good though as the stick on the G13. The G13 stick is really fluid and works really well with thumb manipulation. With the G13, being like a analogue stick, means that up doesn't have to be exactly the up that is set, it can be slightly off, so moving it around is great for all people. With the Orbweaver dpad, Up is really only one direction and is limited slightly because of it.

The buttons around the dpad are not great, the one above it is too far away, it could do with sticking out a bit further and the key below it, is maybe even too sensitive, however it's not that bad.

Key layout of the Orbweaver isn't overlay bad, though missing a couple keys compared to the G13 is painful.

I can't really get a good overall feel for it though until Razer fix the dpad issue.

I still think I would like an update to G13 over this though so far. If Logitech brought out a G13, with Cherry MX blue keys and an extra row above their top row with another 7 keys they can take all my money.

Bah, it's a lot of money to spend on a product that doesn't work right now. :-(
