Thank you a bunch mate. I watched the video and all it said was that it was an adjustable thumb rest.

Now that you have confirmed it is indeed a (spacebar) button, I will be grabbing it to replace my Nostromo Te smile.gif

A few more questions for you since you actually own it, if that's ok tongue.gif
  1. how does it compare, comfort wise and size, to the Nostromo? Is it the same size and are the buttons located and sized the same as the Nostromo?
  2. how are the mechanical keys? Someone said they are blues? Do you have issues with fast repeated presses (double/triple clicks) not registering?
  3. how is the dpad? Is it more accurate when trying to press diagonally? On the Nostromo, it's hard to repeatedly press a diagonal.
  4. lastly, how high is the arch in the palm rest? Can it be set to the same height as the Nostromo? The pics of thre orbweaver make the palm rest look almost flat like the logitech g13?

Thanks smile.gif

I had an n52 and g13. Never used them. Learning a new key layout is an absolute pain and programming individual macros is a pain and I got way too use to having tactile mechanical keys.

The orbweaver removes one barrier to entry for me. I can definitely use this in a work setting or at home for something like starcraft once optimizied.

And blue's are fine. They are just loud which is why people prefer browns. Reds/Blacks are really made for FPS gamers. They are mediocre for all other purposes in my opinion because you have no tactile feedback indicating you have actuated a key.

First Steam, now Razer - how many more companies are going to screw over Australian customers? Why is it that Aussies always end up paying more for things...

Orbweaver US RRP = $129.99USD
Orbweaver AU RRP = $189.88USD

That's $60USD more for Aussie customers, that is pathetic money grabbing if I have ever seen it.

Hey all, I did a very in depth review of the Orbweaver, so I'm posting it by request, since I think it will help a lot of you. A lot of issues I discuss are in the video directly from the things I read here on the forum while I was trying to research it for my own purchase. Sorry if it's too long winded but i wanted to be thorough on my thoughts after using it for a few days in a row. Check it out below:

Overall a great upgrade if you love the Nostromo, but not perfect of course. Enjoy the video.

I think I can answer these:

*It's pretty much the same size and arrangement as the Nostromo, but a bit larger and of course it can expand to an even larger size for big hands (customization is a big perk for this one). The default size (smallest setting) is about the same as the Nostromo I'd say.

*Mechanical keys are the same blue switches found on the Black Widow. They are just as responsive also, so no problems with response other than the typical issues with Blue switches some report (though I happen to like the blues better than red/black).

*The Dpad is also mechanical, but Mechanical like a mouse button, so it's much more clear and responsive when clicking. I haven't tried diagonal movement though, so I can't speak to that, but from my understanding there are 8 distinct directions now. I'll be honest though: I only feel 4 "click" spots for the dpad, but I'm assuming the diagonal is possible.

*The palm rest definitely has an arch to it like the Nostromo, maybe even a touch higher. The good news is that it also adjusts to your personal taste, which is a nice feature. it can also remain "freeform" where it can move while in use.

I cover all of this in the video review I posted, but will link it here again just in case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdtYAe5DUu0

Hope this helps.

So the dpad has 8 unique buttons, so when you say press left & up at the same time, you don't hit those two, but the button between them.
It's not too bad, but when in directional mode, the dpad does not work correctly.

You can set it up so you can configure exactly what each of the 8 buttons on the dpad does independently, but honestly there is little chance of being able to hit any of them exactly the way you want every time.

That is to say, if you press back on the dpad, you will easily hit three possible buttons. The movement in the dpad just isn't as firm. Honestly though I think this is great, once they fix the dpad issues in the software it should be far better.

This is the update I received today on the dpad issue:
Quote:
Thank you for the feedback, We have been able to reproduce the issue you have described and we have found it to be software related. Our software team is working very hard to have a solution set in place. This will be pushed out in a very soon Synapse 2.0 update. Sadly I do not have a better ETA than soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience, Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

It's because Australians have a higher average income, way higher if I recall correctly.

It's something I could definitely see myself using given I've got a tenkeyless, but the price is pretty prohibitive.
It DOES have the space bar still, if you watch custompcreview's video about it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFwunETuw4M) he mentions it is clicky and is programmable, so I think it's still a spacebar.
