Where to buy 10mm acrylic

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I need to buy some thick 10mm acrylic for a lighting project I'm doing. Any ideas on stores where I could get some relatively cheap? I'd prefer to get it from a store rather than online. Any ideas would be great, I've already checked Lowes and Home Depot and none of it was thick enough.

I know you said a store... but this is where I got my acrylic from.

3/8" acrylic will be .375 inches. 10mm is about .39 inches. Pretty dang close

Acrylic isn't always exactly the stated thickness. It is nominal thickness. I work with a lot of 1/8", which mics out between 0.110" and 0.125". It's usually cast into a sheet, so there is some minor variation.

I buy mine from Tap Plastics mostly as scrap cutoffs. Don't know what area you're in, or if there's a Tap near you. You might just look locally on Google Maps for "plastic" to see if there's a fabrication shop or supplier near you. Always better to buy scraps/cutoffs and smaller pieces than to spring for full sheets which run $75-200 each plus shipping (unless you really need to use a full sheet).

Broke down and ordered off of Delvies lol. You would think that there would be more places to buy this stuff from in Houston...

I just had a mess of 12"x12" pieces ordered through Delvie's. Should be here early this week. Ordered up some colors that Tap Plastics doesn't carry. Sheet prices averaged under $7 each including shipping. Cheaper than the drive into town to hit Tap. I'll still drive by occasionally to see what's in the scrap bin.

And if any of you guys need the plexi etched, I have a thread that should be listed in my profile... Cheap and easy... Take a look...

I don't see your thread. I also have a laser engraver/cutter. biggrin.gif
