Firstly, a HUGE thanks to everyone who submitted tips and tricks and thoughts on the cutting of the pliexi-glass. Great information!
The U-tube video was a big help, THANKS Hatfieco!
I haven't attempted it yet, but I think I got a handle on what I need to do.
Being a girl who "runs with scissors", I have pretty much made up my mind that I should be cutting the plexi in the shape of the head, and not just a rectangle.
Okay, onto the 3-D bow...
I started with a good selection of paint to choose from and admit that I painted the bow 7 times before I was satisfied.
I painted so many layers, that eventually I ended up sanding them all off (there's two hours I'll never get back), and tried one last time.
Just one color for the background, one for the outline, and one for some highlights. Highlights are dark pink; you can't quite see them in the photo.
Still need to put a clear high-gloss coat on top, but I do like how it turned out.
Here's a reminder of how bow will go over the window.
I thought I'd try out a little embossing experiment on the case.
I wanted to find out if the finish on the case could take the high temp of the embossing tool.
I was surprised that it turned out okay.
The embossing tool gets really hot and the metal itself was quite warm to hold. Turned out okay, even with the case surface not being completely smooth. Not sure if I will do this embellishment somewhere on the case...we'll see.
Definitely not the gold color, but maybe a glossy red or black?
Thanks for checking out my progress!
