Can my planned build be optimized further? AMD Trinity Build

So I have finally settled on what direction I will have to go in to be within the limited budget I have.

Before I go ahead and purchase anything of course, I just want to see if you have any comments/suggestions/tips/hints for further optimization I could do regarding hardware selection? Maybe I did some bad choices here? Anything goes as I really am keen on ensuring I get the best bang for the buck smile.gif

CPU: AMD A8-3870K RETAIL
Motherboard: AsRock FM2A75 PRO4
Graphics: Using onboard to save on $$
Memory: Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 700 Watt Power Supply Unit
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA III 6 Gbps Internal 3.5 inch Hard Drive
Tower: CiT Vantage Midi Mesh Gaming Case with HD Audio, 4 Fans, Card Reader

All in all I get this for a very good price!

Cheers guys!
Dan

FM1 is dead socket and it's being replaced with FM2 and Trinity chipcs for now. Socket is getting love for next 3 years so there will be some upgrades down the road.

PSU is OVERKILL

EDIT: just realised the chip u picked is FM1 while your motherboard Is FM2 so u were probably aiming at A10-5800k?

Oh right good spot! I didn't even realise.

This specific cpu won't be supported long term? It is the one I have in mind as performance and cost are in line with what I require as the bare minimum.

Where do you live and what retailers do you have available to you?

Personally, I'd change the following:
  • CPU - What the fellow above me stated
  • RAM - I'd recommend Samsung 'Wonder-ram' as it clocks nicely which is something which should benefit your APU and it's great for the price
  • PSU - Complete overkill, 400w should be more than enough. Get a quality unit too.
  • HDD - I'd get a single platter drive that is a bit faster. Something like the WD Blue. If you can afford it get an SSD too (128gb)
  • Case - Comes down to preference
  • Cooling - What are you doing about a this?

Lastly, how would you feel about buying used/second-hand?

I would change the WD green to a WD blue /Black , the greens are slow and better suited for storage, than OS.
Also have a look at the Samsung wonder ram , impressive overclockers and pretty cheap.
and the PSU as mentiones
, you could easily get away with something like an Antec 350w for example.

Use this RAM, it'll increase performance and should cost the same/less.

*edit*

I'd also suggest lowering the motherboard to something like

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157331

OR

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130662

And using the saved funds to upgrade to a a10-5800k.

*edit2* Unless you WANT ATX(Which I'd completely understand) I only made the top recommendation due to me thinking you said the PRO4-M.

*edit3* also that PSU is overkill, I'd suggest this one to save funds.

I run even faster RAM with my Trinity without one single issue.

Rocking GSKILL Ares 2133 CL9 here.

Is this Ram officially supported in the QVL ?

I think my next build will be with A8 3870K. Yours seems a good build.

But i'm too concerned with the FM1 socket, it looks like its falling behind.

These MOBOs u;ve suggested are with FM2 socket. Is there anything like FM1 processors can work with FM2 sockets mono ? if not then this HAS to be A10 and above suggested MOBO combination.

I had assumed you wanted a FM2 build since the title has "AMD Trinity Build" Trinity and soon to be Richland and then Kaveri later this year is the current line of APUs that are on the FM2 socket. The FM1 socket uses the llano line of processors, while it's still fairly new, it is a dead socket, meaning no upgradability if you're fine with that.
