Can you provide price/performance ratios to back that up?

I think some of you are forgetting that AMD got the patent for the XRAM (or something like that) that will be implemented in their next layout... i saw that in the June Issue of "Laptop"

Yes the C2D is better then the A64 because guess what? It was built to be better!
Intel has only caught up to AMD and finally presented some new technology. AMD has yet to produce the counter weapon.

AMD FTW

I thought it was AMD who have been playing catch up their most of their existance, until they finally caught up to and surpassed Intel in performance for a 3 year stint and now things have gone back to the way they were.

That is true, and I can't wait for amd to be in the gutter.

However, in respect to the "employee's" of amd, I hope they can find good sources of employment elsewhere, because they might be looking for new jobs in a few years just to save expenses.... for amd... so they can still keep up with the intel beast....

Good luck amd on surviving, even if amd is releasing new cpu's, so is intel, and intel's striving to keep the front, and it's doing so very well, and will do so for awhile i'm expecting. In the long run, amd is going to lose the lead for now, and will so for at least another 2-3 years minimum. They might come close, but gl to them.

I'm expecting 20 years from now though, To be either A. a superior merger, between amd / intel, OR intel to come out on top. *Inmd* or *Antel*. Otherwise long theory short, I think intel will become the universal cpu reseller/ production company for cpu's for anything from personal pc's, buisness coporate level, medical hospital's/research installations, and various other coporate uses and military uses.

It's a fact, 20-30 years from now, there's most likely going to be some things that are universally simplified. Of course more powerful, but hey, that's life.

You do realize that what you are suggesting would be entirely unbeneficial correct? I hope that these thoughts aren't in your prayers at night or anything.

That would be unbeneficial to us all you can thank AMD for C2D and all of it derivatives. Competition makes processors cheap and affordable for the regular joe. If AMD dissappears then Intel wont have to make good processors and could sell us a bunch of celerons and we be stuck with those and nothing we could do about it.

hehe, I don't want amd to lose out, HOWEVER, keeping them IN BUISNESS (intel letting them get a chance to stick around...), Does keep options open to the public, thus making it more profitable in the long run. So overall in short, amd sticking around is a plus, though I see intel being the long run champion overall.

P.S. 30 years from now, we're looking at terahertz.... ghz is a thing of the past....by then....
