yes it will, in music and biggest thing you will notice is in gaming with a great headset you will hear so much more. EAX makes everything sound 3D with echos and stuff.

It will be much, much better than onboard sound. The XtremeMusic is a great card especially if you game a lot, but if you strictly listen to music then there are better alternatives. Nonetheless, the XtremeMusic is an amazing jack-of-all-trades sound card.

AC97, on sennheiser HD 500's, not to bad...

Next card was Sound blaster live 24bit $30 card... IMPROVEMENT noticed!

Final card (for now)

My pc is in the shop right now, can't wait to use it again

I have yet to try it, but I know for a fact some of the spec's are kickass better then the xtreme music PLUS it has a bloody front panel plus there! (uses a 5 and a quarter inch drive bay btw).

There's two X-Fi Fatal1ty cards to choose from, the Fatal1ty FPS with a front I/O and remote or the Fatal1ty Pro without it (like an XtremeMusic with X-RAM). Unless you play a lot of BF2 or games programmed to use X-RAM, it's better to just save your money and go for a XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer. X-RAM doesn't really make a difference at all, just a little tiny boost for those hardcore gamers.

I have mine in the mail...cost me blood $140 for the XtremeMusic. That's what you get for living in Canada. I have a pair of Koss A/130s, so it should be interesting to hear what games sound like with EAX enabled, especially CSS with the footsteps.
