How much juice do you think I can squeeze out of this baby

Hi,

I have a P4 2.4Ghz on an intel 850E chipset mobo (533Mhz FSB). As far as RAM is concerned I have 2X256MB of PC1066 RDRAM (184 Pin, 32ns). I'm just starting to experiment with overclocking (I overclocked my ATI x800xl) and from what I've been reading it doesn't look like there's much room to overclock my system. Am I wrong? Is there a way to get more speed out of this baby. If so, how much and how would you proceed.

Thanks,

Phil

you could get some speed from the system, just look around at the sticky threads posted, and follow those directions.

Now if you are serious about doing some decent overclocking, and having real nice performance, look into getting a opty 165, pentium d 805/920, or the best of them all: a Core 2 Duo.

These days you can get a used celeron d/p4 computer for like a little over $250 if you know where to look.

edit: all you need

Use my chip for example. I hit 3.4 on the right cooling/ram. You're going to need a new PSU, and definately some ddr400 ram

The RDRAM will be a PITA IMO; that technology simply doesn't have much headroom for higher clocks, so unless there's a FSB:RAM divider in your bios you may be sunk. The 2.4 Ghz Intel chips will overclock though. Perhaps a motherboard and RAM are all you need to be on your way (maybe not).
