New Sapphire 7950 HD, weird issues with it and FPS

I just bought a new 7950 HD to replace a 550Ti, and frankly I'm kind of irritated. Not sure if I have to go back to the store and replace it, but I figured I'd ask around first.

Basically, I installed it. First time I installed the drivers, Windows wouldn't even load, so right off the bat it's not looking great. Did a system restore, and reinstalled. Great. Works. I load up Saints Row, and I notice it's going... slower than the 550Ti was. What the ****? I just spend 300 dollars. Not good. I alt tab to see if my processor is peaking at 100%... no. The Graphics card is peaking. It's spiking up to 100% percent usage in Afterburner. That makes no sense.

Alright, fine, whatever. I try League of Legends. I'm getting 60 FPS very smooth, but in random areas (not in fights), the FPS will drop to 40, and the same thing is happening... 100% on the GPU will spike up and then go back down.

Either way, it's a bit of a piss off, and I don't know what to do. Yeah, I know my CPU is a bottleneck, but *league of legends* is not even pushing my CPU to 50% usage on a single core.

What do I do? It's a lot of damn money I just spent for what I feel like is nothing...

Did you uninstall Nvidia drivers? and it could hep if you fill out your system specs

Did you uninstall all the nvidia drivers? Read this http://www.overclock.net/t/1150443/how-to-remove-your-nvidia-gpu-drivers

After that install the latest beta.

Sorry, forgot to post specs

Asus a599x EVO AM3+
Athlon II 4x 640 @ 3.4ghz
128 Crucial SSD
CX600 PSU corsair
8GB DDR3 Vengeance ram
Sapphire 7950 HD 3GB

I'll try to uninstall the old drivers; didn't even think about that. Will I need to reinstall my ATI Catalyst drivers or should I just follow those steps?

Uninstall both drivers to be safe and reinstall AMD drivers. thumb.gif

Like they said uninstall both, and don't worry about your cpu too much it's not that bad and still a very good budget chip outside of a handful of CPU intensive games .

This is the issue I'm *still* having while playing League of Legends. Playing at full graphics settings @ 1680x1050, fullscreen. It's just spiking up randomly, and it'll bog down in game. It's weird.

Any ideas? Should I just take it back to the store for another one? :/ Did all the uninstallation and everything... no change at all. Any other ideas?

The spiking is normal. Especially for league of legends.I am playing atm and its almost the same like yours

But... it's worse gameplay than a cheap 550Ti? Why is that? >_> Same with Saints Row, etc... It's all actually worse off than a cheap Nvidia card. That makes no sense to me.

Probably at this resolution your cpu is a big problem for your card.Try to lower a bit your details in lol because its cpu dependent

Also try to increase your power limit to 20% in AB
