Asus Sabertooth Z77 - 4x4GB RAMS

Thread Starter
I purchased a Sabertooth Z77 for visual programs and games, but had lots of trouble finally getting to BIOS screen today. I want to go with G.Skill 16GB (4x4GB DDR3 2133) but the problem is, memory sticks are only recognized in A1 B1 slots. I tried them one by one in A1 B1 slots and all four sticks posted alright. But none of them work if inserted in A2 B2! I enabled XMP in BIOS but after I turned off system, insert all 4 sticks and restarted (in a hope that pc will now recognize them all), system does not even start.

I also tried installing Windows 7 with just 2 sticks in A1 B1 slots, then installation stops (or freezes) at first language selection screen- I can't use my mouse or keyboard and no cursor is visible. Not sure why. This is my first build so I would really appreciate any help here.

Exchange it for a new one. I have to rma my sabertooth becasue it wont recognize 4x4 g skil sniper 1866. They will post at that speed on other comps jus not on this mobo. Sabertooths are known for havin these issues.

Z77 Sabertooth works fine with Sniper. Look below, all 4 is at 1866.
This is a first to hear about this issue with Sniper. I've done many builds with Sabertooth and Sniper many times.

As to OP, have you done a Bios update. You might need to do that, as it might fix the ram compatibility.

(I actually replaced Corsairs to this as this was 16GB 2133 and was on QVL..)

Updating BIOS- All I did was enable XMP in BIOS (original version). Did I miss any detail here? I also download most recent BIOS in USB now (SABERTOOTH-Z77-ASUS-1708.CAP) but read something about renaming. I really want to resolve this, please help. Thanks.

Renaming it is all in the bios you unzip. its in the PDF file.
Z77ST.CAP is the file you want to rename to.

Not necessarily sniper just ram in general.

OP have you been using the Memok button to get back to normal after misshaps?

I think I must be in Windows to update BIOS- but at Windows first installation screen, it just takes away my keyboard and mouse ability so I am left with a language selection and can not choose anything. All devices were working in BIOS so I'm confused..

I tried MemOK again and restarted with 4 memory sticks. System stops with DRAM LED light on. System starts with just 2 sticks and can get to Win installation screen.

Make sure you dont have it plugged into a usb 3.0 port. Just a thought.

Thank you for your suggestions.

When I put in BIOS USB to PC and restart the system, it shows "Disk Error - Press any key to restart". Did I do something wrong with BIOS file in USB? I dragged in 'Z77ST.CAP' file in USB. Do I need to put other system files?
