I am back, with the proof you need. Sorry for the absence was out on tour with a musical festival over the Christmas break and just getting back into the office.

I will list all the numbers now I am in front of the box including a screenshot of the beast in action. I probably should have done a VIDEO as well so you can see me multitasking between the tabs even though the INTEL is screaming at 100% usage

First of all just to set the record straight from my original POST:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1340950/10yr-due-for-a-new-system-but-having-trouble-finding-a-pc-that-suits-my-needs-i-thought-i-was-normal-quiet-cool-where-do-i-need-to-spend

Shout out to:

ghostrider85 Looks like you might need the new system LOL (Peace Respect at least you had the plums to try which gave me an insight of what would not work for me. IF you evenly opened tabs across some IE's you would find it’s all COOL!

DaClownie Exaggerate this! LOL seriously respect though for your honest feedback & are you enjoying that platinum medal?

Nvidiaftw12 believe it

DzillaXx Spell Checking before I post!

ANONUSER Clinic wouldn’t take me said my avatar needed to be scarier like yours PEACE!

KGPRIME The only BS is your machine, newer and cant step into the arena back to the drawing board for you. Stop Using Mozzarella LOL its Cheesy IE works well enough. Seriously though no dis-respect peace dude.

Topic Clocker 10years is a stretch in today’s ever changing I.T. world but I will settle for 5 years. Peace

jamdox Glad I found someone that understands and probably uses a computer for what it can do rather than one linear program (bench test) at a time. Your advice was part of the overall decision. GR8 Work

Acefire No Budget money is no object as long as it does what I need. I would probably draw a limit at $15,000 IF it was guaranteed to out perform my needs otherwise I would work on about $5000 USD

Brettjv Thanks For the tips, I am a noob so do make apologies. You probably won’t see much from me after this post for at least another 5-10 Years so I appreciate your patience. I won’t be cluttering up your forums with many other comments. Keep up the good work moderating and keeping the riff-raff under control including me LOL.

OK So to recap I love lots of TABS open 40-80 at any one sitting using IE 8 remember a lot of tabs contain streaming videos.

The following is a breakdown of the full spec of everything I am running apologies for original post I was not in front and since its been nearly 10 years since I built the rig I sometimes forget what it all was but here it all is:

Built 3rd MARCH 2004 (ok its nearly 9 yrs)

-Standard ATX Desktop case with the side permanently left off:
-Codegen 350 Watt PSU NO SATA Power use adapters for SATA devices
(was changed about 5 years ago had the same PSU in another tower so swapped it)
- Motherboard INTEL D865GL
- CPU Intel Prescott 3.0GHZ HT (no over clocking just straight out the box)
- 2GB DDR 400MHZ Kingston X4 512mb Matched
- GPU AGP BFG Tech 6800 Ultra OC out of the box 256MB
- SONY Floppy Disk Drive
- Maxtor IDE 40GB Hard Disk Drive (has done 2196 days of use according to Sentinel)
- ASUS DVD Burner SATA replaced IDE CD Burner 2 yrs ago
- Windows XP PRO SP3 32bit All up to date IE 8 Etc AVG 2013 FREE
- VDU (monitor) 19” SONY CRT 1980x1200 Picture perfect
- Connection from the outside world is a BDSL connection we have X2 ADSL Connections that are aggregated we are about 6.1km from Exchange best I can clock up has been 13.1Mbs

Average Running Temperature around 65degrees Celsius on the chip (74 in pic) & 39-42 on rest of the board

48.1db Noise from workstation measured from head height on the chair

Please note the picture the back top IE window actually as about 15 additional tabs that I could fit up at the time and was jumping back and forth. When that happens, its time to start a new session which is as you can see what I did.

It’s a screen capture I have nothing to hide you can all see what I have open.

Page File Usage 4.37 GB from a 2GB machine. As you can see that’s why I want to know if a 32,64 or 128 Ram kit is really going to make a HUGE difference.

So far from what I have gathered I will wait for the Haswell.

A 480GB Intel SSD SATA 3 seems to be hard to beat but like the PCI style though
A Corsair Liquid cooler doo dad
Silverstone AP123 Fans for use with the above radiator
GPU?
M/B Will stick with a genuine INTEL I would expect
RAM Whatever they recommend as the HASWELL Makes its appearance
CHIP like wise.

Yes it will , because pagefile works trough your hdd and thats significantly slower than any average ram.

So 8 GB of memory would have done a world of good.... with an OS capable of accessing it !

I managed to source a brand new of everything exxactly the same. SOO If the Haswell dissapoints or is just need another 10 or more years of reliability it will be built and ready to go. Only Cost me $75 all up what a bargain (Brand new parts). I was working on a clients computer today and we were discussingt the concept, we fired up 134 YOUTUBE HD 1080P clips then bogged on some WORD OUTLOOK some card maker publisher photoshop corel and some video editiing software. NEVER FLYNCHED and was zippy on everything that was on a recently build Gigabyte.... i5 g3 8GB And an ATI 79?? and OH YES windows 8. Oh Mechanical HDD WD Black I beleive 1TB so I would say I wont be dissapointed in the results no matter what I end up choosing.

Honestly, if I was in charge of building you a system (and you really want to spend $5k), here's how I'd go:

You're a troll, you spend multiple paragraphs babbling on and on without clarifying anything you need. Please leave OCN and go back to another forum that will cater to you your needs. You know plenty of brand names, you know lots of "data" and can use caps lock but please go away.

Troll? No bridges here but thanks for your two bobs worth I only keep returning to read the replies my quest is over but people love replying to out of date stuff. I guess they can't let go of something old like OP with the 10yr old rig

if browsing with 300 tabs is your main concern, you can keep using your pentium 4.

Just install linux mint as your operating system, and your P4 will feel like a quadcore. 2GB ram will seem like 8GB in linux
