new system any help appreciated!

Thread Starter
i hope this is where im supposed to post this, i just bought a new pc(custom build) the specs as follows:

6800 duo core
2gb corsairxms ddr2 4-4-4-12 (just ordered another 2gb same exact ones)
1gb 7950gtx nvidia video
mobo is asus p5n32sli premium
triple samsung 204B 20"monitors
750 toughpower
zalman generation 1 liquid cooling
NZXT Nemesis Elite case

Im really into gaming and flight simulation. I know the stuff i have is able to overclock. ive searched this site for VERY general info on overclocking..ie how its done, what your actually doing? is it strictly related to the mobo? also i bought some fan screens, not sure how they go in? they have a black enclosure around them, got them from newegg. this computer is fast, just not sure if opinions will be different as far as should i overclock it? what are the benefits? seems fast as hell already! will vista and 4gb ram make this faster? i guess i just want some pro opinions on what im dealing with here if you know what i mean. i would consider myself a novice with computers, ive changed cfg files in flight sim and messed with display files ect... any help is greatly appreciated..thanks in advanced....ps im glad this is an intel thread, im hearing alot of various opinions re amd vs intel!! im not even sure if it matters, ive owned both, so far it runs great though!

Just 1 video card? Get a P5B Deluxe then and later when the time comes, get a DX10 card.

Well, for one you've got a great system, it's top of the line and the best that's available right now.

Now, as far as overclocking. Overclocking is pushing stock system components to a further point than they would be... had you not overclocked them, which is sort of obvious but anyway. With the motherboard you have you won't be able to overclock as far as you may want to and right now if you are ready to send back parts I would suggest you do two things.

Since it seem as if money isn't an object in your situation, I say you send back the 7950GX2 and get an 8800GTX.

This is the new top of the line card running DX10 as its native for DirectX. Also, this is the card you want if you will be running DX10 which is Vista (in short). Also, you want to change that motherboard, my suggestion would be an Asus P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP.

You aren't going SLi from what I've seen you previously type so I suspect you don't need a SLi motherboard. Even so with an 8800GTX there aren't many things that it will be able to do better if you were to get a Second one in SLi.

But as far as overclocking, there are many guides but as of now if you are happy with your setup I don't suggest overclocking. Once you get choppyness or stops in your gaming THEN I think you should overclock. Especially for a beginning overclocker, I know I may sound like a betrayer of the art to the forum members but I don't think it's completely necessary especially for a system of your caliber.
