[CVG] DayZ release date delayed due to 'ground-breaking work' - Page 4

It's definitely the right decision, especially after the whole WarZ thing happened.

I am so looking forward to the implementation of bases, although I'm sure that won't be until after its release. DayZ really has me hooked like no other game has, except maybe Minecraft. tongue.gif

It still is. It's going to be released as a foundation build, which will have all of its core elements implemented and stable. After which they will release content updates every once in a while, adding new features to the game at no extra cost to the player.

I'd buy better PC parts to get smoother play, but my brother's computer with a new i7 doesn't run the game any better then mine... and the HTPC with a core2 quad CPU doesn't seem to run it much worse.

I'm really impressed with how my rig has held up to DayZ after seeing how many people have poor performance. I don't think I've ever experienced a slow-down, even though I do have view distance at max and mid to high settings for everything else, and obviously my specs aren't all that great. tongue.gif I'm sure optimization is one of the more important things on their list.

What's best is that we can play our modded ArmA II while we wait for the standalone version! biggrin.gif

What FPS do you get? If your one of the people who consider 30fps smooth, then it's probably not a problem.

I'll have to check, but I'm sure it's not over 60fps. Whether it does or doesn't, it still runs without any slow down which is what I'm impressed with (such as skipping or w.e it's called), even on servers with a lot of people, no matter where I am. It's not that I consider 30fps smooth or anything (it really depends on the game).

I'll check in a few minutes.

*edit* Running between 45 and 50fps consistently on Chernarus.

I hope when the stand alone gets released people might start playing regular online ArmA 2, I miss it.

Have you tried Wasteland? That's increasing in popularity pretty fast. I've never actually played Arma II online, so I don't know how close it is to it, but Wasteland focuses more on combat, missions, and base building.

please Please PLEASE..... RAGDOLL PHYSICS!

Screw it, any Physics in general would be nice.

Side note: I have an unhealty obsession with ragdoll physics....

Ah, good. But for some reason my expectations continue to be repressed.

Load up some Wasteland or something that allows +1000 meters view distance if you haven't and it's a different story. If you've run nothing but vanilla DayZ you've most likely not seen over 500-1000m as the servers lock it.

I'm with you 110% but not very optimistic.
