After being highly disappointed by DayZ+ this evening.... I really can't wait for the stand alone. I hope Rocket and the team can both make it amazing, and hurry up tongue.gif
It's too bad about the issue with Greece and the 2 Bohemia employees being arrested and detained for so long. Best of luck to them getting home to their families soon.

The current engine is actually trash. It's so CPU dependent it's a joke. You'll have literally nothing on screen except a bunch of trees and a dozen zombies, and your FPS will drop to 40, while your GPU's sit at 20% usage.

It's not CPU heavy either, at least not client side. I hit like 60% CPU usage max, while at 30% GPU and still at 30FPS. For some reason, server-side load heavily affects client-side FPS.

BIggest issue I have with this engine is the way the aim feels.

Mouse smoothing is impossible to disable cause it's on minimal in my settings, it's disabled in all config files, and still i have a ! reversed mouse acceleration. The faster I move my mouse, the less fast my aim goes??

Also, sensitivity is at utter minimal settings, and still WAY too fast at 3000DPI.

Then again, i'm a BF3 player so maybe i'm just not used to the engine. I find the entire feel of the aim in Arma engine a bit stiff...

Oh, and th enormous amount of fuel needed to keep a chopper flying.. I had to ditch my perfectly fine chopper somewhere in a field again cause I ran out of gas after dumping 14 fuel tanks in it in less then 20 minutes of flying...

A helicopter can leak fuel if it has broken as little as a window. it takes 50 fuel cans to fill it up completely (atleast it did last time I played DayZ) and it doesnt take that long to fill it up if you are more than one person and you have 3 cans each.

I like that it can leak fuel, but the fact that it leaks because there's a hole in my windshield is a little absurd.

Rocket said the DayZ Standalone is going to use the ARMA 2 engine, with some features (I think he only confirmed ragdoll physics) that will be better optimized. So basically Virtual Reality 3.5 (ARMA 2 uses VR3 and ARMA 3 is going to use VR4)
