Considering DayZ mod is free, I doubt they will give you a discount.

Mouse smoothing is impossible to disable cause it's on minimal in my settings, it's disabled in all config files, and still i have a ! reversed mouse acceleration. The faster I move my mouse, the less fast my aim goes??

Also, sensitivity is at utter minimal settings, and still WAY too fast at 3000DPI.

Then again, i'm a BF3 player so maybe i'm just not used to the engine. I find the entire feel of the aim in Arma engine a bit stiff...

Oh, and th enormous amount of fuel needed to keep a chopper flying.. I had to ditch my perfectly fine chopper somewhere in a field again cause I ran out of gas after dumping 14 fuel tanks in it in less then 20 minutes of flying...

Mouse smoothing is different than mouse acceleration. There's some kind of weird mouse speed cap, and if you try to move your mouse too fast it slows it down (actual people can't swing around a gun as fast as you can flick your mouse to do a 180). And of course it's gonna be too fast at 3k DPI, you're using 3k DPI...

I sorta like it that way, though. The inconsistent aiming and stuff turns it into more of a thinker's game rather than a twitch shooter. Relies more on positioning and smart movement than just aiming ability.

And re: poor performance, if you find a decent private hive server that restarts often (like every 4-6 hours) the performance is a lot better. The lag feels like it goes from 300ms to 50ms, your FPS is doubled compared to a 8-12 hour restart public hive server, etc.

Also staying out of Elektro/Cherno helps. tongue.gif

I'm soooo over dayz. It was cool at first but I soon realized wasteland was what I was looking for. You can actually build bases and it focuses on the main thing that dayz is really about, pvp while leaving out the annoying zombies.

Also really been digging ACE.

There won't be a discount (as it has already been pointed, the mod itself is free so there's no reason for a discount), but the standalone is supposed to come out at pretty low price. Probably between $15 and $25. I'm thinking closer to $15.

Since when is PvP the main focus of DayZ? I think there's a pretty spread out focus on PvP and survival. So many online shooters focus on PvP so you can get that pretty much anywhere.. a good survival experience isn't all that common though.

Bases are actually supposed to be implemented into the standalone at some point later on and zombies are to be much more dangerous and less annoying.

Why is everyone so hyped up on bases? They would detract from the game IMO. Currently there's a lot of motivation to move around the map constantly, and thus making vehicles very valuable... so much so that you'll be attacked by people that would normally be friendly. Crafting items can add a nice aspect, but I really hope there isn't too much structure building.

I don't think it takes away from the experience all that much. Being someone that avoids groups and usually works alone, I am not one of the people building a large base, however I like the idea of having those large groups of people, who have much more resources than myself, as a threat. It adds a lot to the survival aspect and, IMO, is as equally important as having both the environment and zombies as a threat.

I think there's no motivation to move around the map currently. There's no compelling reason to venture east to eastern airfield or berezino. I'm usually back and forth between elektro/cherno and stary/NWA.

I haven't touched DayZ yet but I've watched a few of Frankie's vid's on youtube and I'm definitely looking forward to playing the standalone.
