Heh, you know Corsair, they love the gaming aspect, so red works well for that. It's become the defacto gaming switch!

I just keep hearing everywhere that red is best for gaming due to the fast actuation of the switch.

Ohh I wonder if they will sell the K70's WASD and 1-6 keys separately for the K95 keyboard.

I'm picking up the K95 because I used to be a heavy MMO player and want the extra keys. Plus I like the white backlight. The contoured red WASD keys would be nice even the white backlight on the k95.

Corsair, please reconsider the decision to go with MX Red switches on the K70. It's really not a desired key switch in the mechanical keyboard market.

Please see the following quote from the Linustechtips.com forum:

"Man. Corsair. So close with this one. I really really want to get one of these Corsair keyboards but they just miss the mark for me. I actually owned a K90 for a little while and I absolutely can't stand the MX Red switches. The texture/feel on the buttons themselves are great. But the switches just kill me. I also LOVE the aluminum body and the wrist wrest.

This K70 looks fantastic. Not having the macro keys is a huge plus. While I would prefer white backlight I would be completely good with blue. It is the switches that kill me though. Who else uses MX Reds? Anybody? All the people I talk to and all the info I see online shows that people lean towards Blues or Browns with something like Blacks in third. I could be wrong but I don't think I have ever heard anybody ever recommend MX Reds, ever.

Personally, I prefer browns but I would definitely go with Blues if it meant having a keyboard as nice as this. Is anybody else frustrated by Corsair's decisions on this? It is almost like they are trying to target the smallest possible audience."

I think that's mainly due to the fact that blues and browns are the most well known types of switches. MX blacks are also more wide spread just due to the fact that it has been available to the NA consumers for a longer period of time. They've been marketed towards the gaming community before mechanical even blew up.

In reality MX reds are a great compromise between the harshness of blacks and mushiness of browns. Most people do not learn the tactile bump anyways; They bottom out relentlessly. I think Corsair has done a great job going to MX reds, esp at the time of the first announcement MX reds were not readily available. It has allowed them to carve out a niche in a bloated and limited keyboard market. CM is doing the same with their MX green switches. What Corsair SHOULD have done, was to mix it up with their K9 and K7 lineups.

Though I understand now from previous responses, why they went with lower macro keys, I don't agree with it. I think it's counter intuitive to have macro switches that are less accessable than normal keys. The main reason why you want those keys there is because you rekey unreachable keys or set of actions. Say you can't reach "p", you can reassign it to G0 key. Now it's quite easily reachable by your main WASD hand. By lowering the macro keys you're just making it harder for the user; He now not only have to learn the 3 columns of 2 by 2 by 2 spacing that's different than other 5 Gkey keyboards, but it's also have to learn it's new height as well.

That's also why MX reds were a good choice. For those who don't bottom out on browns and blues, they rely on a consistent height of press and release point. With a differential height between the macro and main keys, it becomes impossible to get used to their old typing habits unless they bottom out without regard. And that becomse the one of the reasons why they should've went with browns/blues for their k7 lineup instead of reds (or have the same key height for k95).

I wish they'd make a k95 version that is also tenkeyless, without the arrow cluster and numpad, with the macro keys. I also wish they'd make a mouse that uses optical sensors but also 4-8 macro keys like they have on the m95 mouse. Overall I think they've done a grat job of offering what people would want, filling a switch niche that hasn't been adequately explored.

I'd like the K70 with MX Blues, but I don't mind Red's THAT much I can get used to them, I just wish the black version also came with blue backlighting that way it would match my Gigabyte mouse and N52 TE, my Roccat Apuri and Kave 5.1

The FPS RED keycaps that come on the K60 can be purchased on the corsair webstore. It's only logical that the K70 keycaps will be available as well.

Can't wait to get me the k95, already got me the m95 and i love it =)
Pfft, about time, the K90 should of been fully mechanical in the first place, the reason they gave for using rubber domes on some keys was such BS.

I don't like huge keyboards- I like TKL boards, though the K95 does look better then the K90. But why are Corsair as well as some other brands still only offering one cherry switch type (in this case reds) with their keyboards, there is no "best" cherry switch, it is highly subjective and all switches should be offered to suit peoples individual preferences like Ducky, Filco and Coolermaster do thumb.gif.
