Hello to everybody, i'm sorry guys to bother you i'm new to all of this and me and my wife have a new years resolution to build a nice gaming machine. I was wondering if anyone can answer this question for us........
I'm having problems choosing the right memory module (RAMS) for my motherboard. I've been to Fry's Electronics, best buy, HHGregg, I even called Tiger Direct and no one can give me any help they all send me in the wrong direction. I've tried the internet but everytime i put in what im looking for it sends me in the wrong direction as well.
I ordered online from TigerDirect.com a bundle motherboard and chip processor

ASUS P8Z77-V LX Intel 7 Series Motherboard

001.PNG 496k .PNG file

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40 GHz Quad Core Unlocked

The motherboard is suppose to support DDR3 2400MHz (OC) and up to 32GB - 64bit maximum memory.

My question is do i have to buy memory module DDR3 that has 2400 MHz or can i add anything under 2400 MHz? Like 1066 MHz or 1600 MHz or how exactly does it work?
Or can anybody tell me what kind of memory would be good with this bundle?

I would appreciate it so much if anyione can give me some kind of hint.

This motherboard?

In that case you can use any DDR3 240pin dimm at 2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333.

Depending on how much you want to spend I would recommend these three kits.

All three would work, and work great. Have fun, and good luck on your build! thumb.gif

you can buy any speed but your mobo will support up to 2400mhz. so you can get whatever speed you want. try to shoot for 1600 or 1866. i would recommend this wonder ram. it comes at 1600 but you can change it to 2133 really easily
