Budget build-intel or amd? - Page 2

i am going to buy new processor and motherboard tomorrow. i5 34xx seems nice but only negative thing is it cant be overclocked. Also since i will be getting a crappy mobo so oc is not a gpod idea anyway. Also 8120 is an option for me, with avg mobo, i can overclock it though. Also my cooler is hyper 212+ i guess, so is it compatible with intel socket, i know at the time of purchase it was compatible with i5 750 cpu mobo. Any ideas whats the best for me?

i5. For gaming even an overclocked BD can't really compete with the fast IPC.

As long as you have the Intel parts for the 212 it will fit.

Ivybridge is better than sandybridge clock for clock (so IB i5 @ 3.0GHz is faster than SB i5 @ 3.0GHz)

if by parts u mean backplate then i guess no. Its still with my old mobo. And the heatsink has a clamp like think whoch can be adjusted. Lga 1156 is supported. Also nehalem one is supported. Dont know if 1155 is the same or has new design altogether. I hope it is compatible. I read that processpr can be overclocked but its pretty limited. Max i can shoot for is 400mhz,i hope the motherboard is able to handle mild overclock without any voltage increase. Also i am getting too much fluctuations here, am usong spike guard and got my wirong checked. Wiring in my house is alright the problem is from main power line,so the question is, is my pc having problem because of this fluctuations? p. s though the fluctuations are slight not a major one.

If you have mounting holes for 1156 they will work for 1155 too.
