I think the point I was trying to get at is that a lot of issues like this were not clearly explained in the user manuals on these boards, so it is worth reviewing what has since come to light online which installers couldn't get a clear picture of at the time.

Now if we could just learn which discrete graphics cards you can crossfire them with....but if not, June 4th is right around the corner.

Odds are they'll be the same as now. HD6670 GDDR5 for optimal experience.

Why not the HD7750 or 7770? I've seen videos of people running 5800k's with a HD7750 in Dual Graphics mode.

Because the 7750 and 7770 are way more powerful than whats in trinity or richland. You could run it in dual graphice mode maybe, but the other cards wont really gain anything, if anything it will probably slow them down since they will more than likely be waiting for the APU's graphics to finish processing its portion of the picture most of the time.

Well, maybe not. A lot of it could be made up in coding through drivers. I am sure they could code the drivers to augment the discrete graphics cards with the APU. It may work now, there are many revews online that shows it working with the 5800K and 7750, so AMD could optimize the driver code, and Richland may be a pleasant surprise to all of us. What would be really great, is if they keep FM2 boards through Kaveri, but bring out a new chipset that can support GDDR4 or 5 on the motherboard, say a 95x series. I know currently we are limited by ddr3 speeds, but maybe when it is out, the current gen would be able to use the ddr4-5 onboard memory through coding. We aren't even sure if the APU uses the GDDR5 on the 6670 as is, or if it splits the value between card and chip. Could you imagine the happy smiles from everyone that wouldn't have to upgrade board and chip, just board!! George Takei, OHHH MYYYY! biggrin.gif

I know, I know, it's a pipe dream, but a man can dream!

I tried to run my 6950 with the A10 5800K and that was exactly what I got...the 6950 was slowed down so much, it hardly made any difference at all being installed. Now I'm just running the 6950 and its much ..much better.

But it would certainly be nice if we could move past the limitations of a 6670 with this new release.
