The 4950hq goes on to win in almost EVERY SINGLE benchmark in CPU and GPU performance. (don't wanna link all of them)

But here's part of their conclusion

"With that said, Haswell's integrated graphics have made bigger strides than the CPU cores this time around. The HD 4600 IGP in the Core i7-4770K isn't quite a fast as the one in AMD's A10-5800K, but it comes perilously close to wiping out AMD's one consistent advantage in this class of chip. And the Iris Pro graphics solution in the Core i7-4950HQ not only wipes out that advantage but threatens low-end discrete mobile GPUs, as well."

The highlight of this thread isn't about the LAPTOP 4950hq, just putting the DESKTOP A10-6800k in perspective and clarifying the false claims about AMD being the only one with this level of performance.

EDIT: Actually looking back at the benchmarks, Intel's latest mobile CPU is faster than a FX 8350 in most benchmarks. It'd just lose once you OC the FX 8350.

Hell yeah, let's use 657$ parts to make a comparison against a 6800K.

It's just showing how far Intel needs to go up the price scale to beat AMD's IGP overall gaming performance.

A. It's over priced
B. The 6800k is not a comparable product.
C. Suggesting Intel doesn't have anything that can compete is now false. It smokes the 6800k's CPU and beats the 6800k's GPU by a good margin.
D. It's still over priced, I acknowledged that in my first post.
E. Still a mobile CPU versus a desktop APU

fanboy rolleyes.gif Intel struggles to compete with 5800k which I loses to and you compare 6800k tongue.gif just leave the GPUs to amd and Intel and compute power. You post is a fail

Guys, AMD isn't flexing any gpu muscle on either of its APU's. You are talking with such fury, yet there is no comparison of chips idling 5 watts(4600m) and 37 watts imo.
AMD is acting within a certain power budget and that is soon about to change. As HSA takes off, the cpu will continue to shrink in die while gpu engulfs more than 42% that Richland gpu unit does.
Please stop comparing top of the line processors with low mainstream. It is overkill. Intel wins, so what? It's next gen hardware, that is what it is supposed to do, replace the old(VLIW4). What's more it is not going to be launched on the same platform. 37 watts idle is desktop niche and also the territory of GDDR5 enhanced gpu's. If you need a challenge, there you have it.

If you are thinking of upgrading, it'd be wiser to consider a FX-6300 or FX-8320, given your hardware sig. An A10-6800K cpu performance wise is going to be around the level of a FX-4350 or FX-4300. Though the latter CPUs benefit from a large L3 cache, where APUs have none. There are lots of reviews comparing FX-4000 series CPUs and Phenom II X4 CPUs.
