AMD Richland A10-6800K APU thread - Page 50

So, your point is? I don't get it. Your solution?
Quote:
If i wasn't wrong 7770 = 6850. You need to OC the 7750 but they can go really far because it's GCN ...
I don't understand the above quote at all.
I`m pretty sure a lot of people want to crossfire their a10-6800K/5800K with a 7750 low profile ( the fastest low profile VGA card one can get)
Tried GTA4 again. No stuttering. FPS is around 29-35. Go figure.
Gonna try in Tomb Raider and Skyrim later.
Overclocked the IGD to 1083 at 1.4V. NB 2200mhz. ddr3 2400 10-12-12-30. 3dMark11 P3887

Hopefully, I was wrong and the idea of coupling with a 7750 is feasible.

Yeah, my point is that two 6670 is definitely faster than a 7750 ... OC that 7750 and Dual Graphics with the APU (DON'T FORGET TO USE FULLSCREEN)

OCing the 7750 makes no sense at all. It is the IGD that should be OCed to be on par with a 7750.

Was pretty skeptical about Richland. Sold my 5800k. Bought a8-5600K. Turned off IGD. Popped in a low profile 7750.

24-35fps in GTA4 1080p. Everything ultra (shadows high)

Was very disappointed. A10-5800K OC + a gddr5 6670 (micro-stuttering in SOME games) would give the same result.
Turned on IGD (A8 sucks- just 256 processing units). OC 1013mhz.

Was excited. Almost ordered a 6800K. But.... GTA4 is unplayable. FPS drops down to as low as 14fps. Stuttering is unbearable.

My conclusions:
-a 7750 won't work properly with a A8 APU whether it be trinity or richland (the same IGD).
-a 7750 alone is too weak for poorly optimized games

A10s have 384 "old" processing units. A 7750 has 512 GCN, I'm assuming it won't be working properly

I don't see the problem, the A10-6800k will do 1080 MHz core on the HD 8670D graphics. And with 2400 MHz DDR3, it can play BF3 at medium settings @ 1080p above 30 FPS. In fact here is GTA IV being played on medium settings with high textures at 30-52 FPS running at 1080p with the GPU at 1080 MHz. If he bothered to overclock the CPU side, he wouldn't get as bad frame rate dips in action heavy scenes. The HD 7750 alone should push 30-50 FPS on all high settings. Don't expect too much from the cheapest card AMD has on the market using GCN ($89 card).

HD 8670D @ 1080 MHz @ 1080p

HD 7750 @ 880 MHz @ 900p

Played Tomb Raider a bit.at 1080p Ultra settings. dual graphics 7750-> the frame rate won't drop below 35 fps. 7750 only-> drops below 30fps. Awesome game btw.
6800k here I come.
Opcode, the idea is to squeeze as much graphics power out of a mITX rig as possible (4" case. A 7970ghz won't fit biggrin.gif nor will 7850).

What do you get in the TR benchmark?
Agreed, very good game smile.gif

Didn`t know there was a benchmark. Thanks thumb.gif
1080p Ultra settings. Catalyst 13.4
A8 + 7750 dual graphics
min FPS 26.7
max FPS 42.8
avg FPS 36.0

7750only
20.7
32.1
26.3
Pretty impressive, isn't it?
Don't forget I'm using the A8 APU which lacks a lot of stream processors compared to the A10-5800/6800K

A few days after this monday I will be posting benchmarks of some games with my A10-6800k. I just don't get my rig until monday, and I plan on testing quite a few games like GTA IV, Tomb Raider, BF3, Crysis 3, Saints Row 3, etc. I got a review topic planned for the A10-6800k, and what the CPU side can offer when I tie a HD 5870 into the mix. So if you're looking for numbers, I will be able to supply them before you make a purchase.

All thing considered , it seems like it does very well.
Fwiw, my 8350 7970 rig gets about 60 fps average on ultimate at stock speeds 1900x1200 . Visually spectacular game thumb.gif

Question for you guys: how much of an upgrade would getting a system based off the a10-6800k be vs my sig rig "Midget"?

Because i am really wanting a low power consumption rig that is at minimum on par with what i have right now in terms of performance.

Other question: has anyone run folding@home on it? and if so how much PPD did it reel in (both SMP and GPU)?
