Which turns out to be around $175 for the pair. You will spend more than that for a A10-6800k and 2400 MHz memory in today's market (ram prices are horrible). The extra GPU grunt will make a huge difference, and you can easily overclock the CPU to 4.2 GHz or so to match up with the A10-6800k's CPU. You shouldn't need an extreme board to do it either, just something that has a heatsink and at least 4+2 phase vrm. It really depends on how much you plan on investing into your SFF build. And which case you plan on using. I personally would go with what I recommended above if the case supports full width cards. I would also slap in a H50 or so and just pick up a board that will handle a moderately good overclock. Like said it will get you further in gaming than just a APU alone, and it wont cost you any extra because you'll need aftermarket cooling for the A10-6800k anyways (very hot chip). What case do you have planned for your SFF and do you have a set budget/list of components that you will need?
I'm trying to stay as low as possible budget-wise. I like your suggestion of the 750k + 7770HD, especially if I don't have to OC since I'm a noob at it and would rather avoid doing it if it's not necessary to play BF3.
I don't have a case in mind and was going to ask for suggestions. I'd like to stay around the $300 mark and already have an OS, Optical Drive, KB+M, HDD, and 4 GB of Crucial PC310600 DDR3 1333 SDRAM. I just need a CPU, GPU, case and mobo, and I have no problem getting used parts.
