Got a spare 80mm fan laying about, so i'm going to rig up some active RAM cooling.

Gonna use some blue silk thread to hang it from the DIMM clips. Will post pics

No way to monitor the RAM temps though, but hey, fan > no fan.

345*9 for example.

Voltage is set to 1.3375 in BIOS. Actual is about 1.288v (according to CPUZ)

One core will prime for a good few minutes without errors (not tryed longer). But the other will throw an error almost instantly.

Upped the voltage to 1.35. Actual is 1.296 (according to CPUZ). Both cores stable.

Huge temp jump though from 46~47 to about 50c.

Up until now temp increases with voltage have been near non-existant.

Also, one core is at 50, the other about 46~48c. =/

UPDATE: :swearing: Error after 15 mins.

UPDATE: Priming at 345*9 @ 1.3625. Stable so far. I've also disabled Vanderpool tech. as this supposedly helps.

Bumping the voltage seems to raise idle temps more than it does load temps. Seems there is less vdroop at idle then load, thus accounting for the differnce in temp increases.

UPDATE: W00t. Looks to be stable. 20 minutes and still going. 51c core 0 and 48c core 1. (load temps). Thats with TAT btw.
Keep in mind that CPU-Z has trouble reading the voltages correctly with Core 2s.

The latest version doesn't seem to.

Everest and Speedfan both show voltages that are WAY off.

And Asus Probe only shows voltage to the nearest .1v

Hmm... would that be 1.38?

135,000 is great, but you can probably push that alot farther.... is your 7900GT still stock? What did you get with the P4?

With the P4 i got 67,000.

The 7900GT is at stock.

And yes, my CPUZ is v1.38

Now regarding overclocking....

My CPU is currently at 345*9, meaning im at 3.1Ghz.

If i set it at 500*6 (3Ghz) would i be able to keep the vCore the same (or lowr) than what im using at 345*9?

Obviously i would need alot more volts on the NB, and also on the FSB i'd imagine. (And RAM if i'm at 1:1)

Basically, is vCore tied to the external speed of the CPU, or the FSB?

Oh, and the active RAM cooling was a no-go.

The 80mm was too big to get in place, as the ATX power lead, and the BT are in the way.

I was gonna try with a little 60mm fan i have, but its noisy, and would do **** all.

Core0 @ 51c, Core1 @ 48~49c.

vCore set to 1.4v, 1.344v Actual.
vMCH/vNB - 1.55v? (Its at max) 35c
vFSB - 1.45v? (maxed also)
vSB - 1.6v (i think)

Sorry about the uncertainty on the voltages. I haven't been keeping track, i've only been playing with vCore today, trying to get stable.

I couldn't get it stable at 360*9, even with 1.4125v! (Aprox. 1.375 actual)

I remembered reading somewhere that there is a certain range where the chip is hard to be stable, so i tryed to get above this range, and jumped to 400fsb.

Well, it worked

My aim is to get 500Mhz fsb. So i'll either have to do this with 500*6, or 500*7. I think x6 will make my cpu a bit slower than it is now, whereas x7 (3.5Ghz) might be a bit hard to reach without the temps shooting up.

I was considering lapping the BT, and adding a better fan. The Silverstone FM121 seems popular, but i cant find it in the UK.

However this fan looks very good: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2532.html

90cfm @ 18db! Bit bloody expensive though! And can a 38mm thick fan fit on the BT?

I've got crap loads of screws, some atleast 2 of them must the the right size and length

EDIT: Found the FM121 on scan.co.uk for £9.99

Thing is, the Silverstone only gets 20cfm more than the SilentX, but is 39db vs the SilentX's 18db.

EDIT: NOES!! Error in prime after 53 minutes. Mo' JUICE!
