My PS3 has always been used more and for longer games such as JRPGs and Blu-rays.
I called that the PS3 would end up ahead of the 360 in units shipped around 3 years ago on this forum. It took longer than I expected, but the PS3 always sold more globally.
You are in a very small minority. And I mean very small. I have many friends who went through severall 360's, and none that I can think of that has a bad PS3.
Personally I've had great luck with both. The only problems I had spawned from a lightening strike on my home, which fried my 360's power brick, and my PS3's ethernet port. (Everything was on a medium-high end surge protector. Among other things fried were my Wii brick, my Sony 5.1 surround, an AV port on my TV, and any ethernet port connected to my router.) Granted, my current 360 is an Elite, not a first gen.
