I always try and stay below 55c with reading like AI Suite and others. Temp apps like TAT which measure direct core temps should stay below 60c.

Voltage doesn't matter all that much as long as the proper cooling is applied and temps stay within reason.

Someone suggested on here, and I think its good advice, to find one of those programs that detect whether your CPU is speed throttling due to overheating. Then run your CPU as hot as you want until the CPU starts throttling. Remember that temp. That is the temp Intel decide it safe to run up to!. You may want to adjust your settings such that you have 5C of margin below that temp, but you don't have to stop at 55C or 60C like people are saying in this thread. Those were just rule of thumb temps for older CPUs which measured die temps in a different way. I think you'll find its safe to go hotter in TAT.

Thanks. I have gotten my rig from stock 2.4gig to 3.2gig on my E6600 with stock air cooling. Not even breaking a sweat. Still only 50 deg. C at idle and 53 - 54 deg. C at full load. Man i love this N68 (680i) motherboard and the intel E6600 Chip. Cant wait to get my none stock air cooler.

Throttling for the Conroe/Allendale chips are lower than the old Netburst stuff was anyways. With high voltage, its best to keep temps lower than normal. Prescotts and other cores could run much hotter without damage, but with c2d its not the case.
