My big typhoon has killed my pc! - Page 3

I just installed my VX, and now you are scaring me because it might fall off.

Anyway, I made sure it was snugly on there, and if it does snap, it doesnt have much room to fall. There is around one inch between my side panel and the fan of the BT VX, so... if it falls, hopefully the side panel will stop it.

If your CPU was working like it was supposed to it would just shut off and the video card is fine (when i removed the IHS off my 3400+ with 1.6v and 2.7ghz OC the stock cooler did not touch the chip so it overheated and turned itself off) unless it was the heatpipes that hit the card =X.... as someone said never use stuff that just clips...i don't even use northbrige coolers that clip

Uhh... Yea I havnt hooked my VX up but theres a X-Fi FPS and a G80 below it, and it'll be sitting on a Qx6700..

If mine broke i'd be out about 2,500$.. Now i'm worried. Might string it up or something.

The Scythe MINE and Infinity just clip on and I haven't had probelms with either. This may just be one of those rare things. Even though they seem like they weigh alot it really isn't that big of a deal. It's only a pound or two.

Eh... When they go over the recommended specs for the mounting brackets, it starts to become a bigger deal. I have my CNPS9500 and I actually can't wait to get it off now and replace it with water just because I know its about 40g over the recommended weight...

WOW, i'm glad the read this post !

just checked out the weight of the BT because it's scarring me too

my future CPU cooler gonna be a Silverstone NT06,

S NT06: 570 grams
Tt BT: 813 grams

I'm glad mine is comming with metal clips or else i would have searched for an solution.

Still gonna check it out when i mount it in the hope that it will be strong enough to hold it

Thread Starter
That is the original BT though, i have the VX, which in most respects is better.

I said most

Thanks for the kind offer waqasr, but i ordered one on ebay already now. shouls be here i na bit, and it is going to my work address, which is cool cuz it doesnt matter when i move house.

Anyone who has or is going to put one of these puppies on, make sure you cable tie it or something, and make sure that your shut off temps are nice and low, i think my braket may have had a plastic fault because it looks like it was weak at that area. it really isnt worth the risk, even for a nice o/c!
