It has a better fan, as well as the fan controller, and the design of the finswas slightly revised i think? It has a n 11 fin fan now.

Do you have a source for those figures?

Wow! I thought my Zalman was heavy! The BT VX weighs 822g and my Zalman only weighs 530g. I think my Zalman won't be doing and tumbling down to the bottom of my case anytime soon I always thought the BT was way to big to fit on the stock bracket

Sorry to Hear about that I Use a BT No Problems what so ever but i modded my case so it mounts to the tray not the board so that wont happen to me, BT and Heavy Heatsinks arent Meant to be used with clips anyhow they weigh way to much for them there meant to be screwed in I Know my BT Does a great Job of cooling my system, with stock heatsink i was at around 40-49 F with bt im at 20-30F and also upgrading to MX-1, Sorry to hear about your problem and do you have a socket 754 by anychance cause yeah, BT's arent really meant for those yes Manufacture makes brackets but meant to be Screwed in as i said.

I removed motherboard because it said that asus had a plastic backing plate and I needed to replace it... removed board and wow guess what there was a metal mounting bracket..... so I just stood the BT up and used the 2 1 1/2" screws tightened down and I was done... The model number I purchased was the CL-P0114.... am I to understand I bought the old one?? anyways if so I am glad I did not buy the VX... that is truely idiotic engineering thinking that the stock hsf clip bracket could hold the weight of that massive thing.... I am terrified of even taking the rig to friends houses for fear of jarring it to much and the BT rocking and causing my mb to crack....has anyone had a similar situation happen??

Shaggyt

Edit: This is mine but as you can see Ive removed the black bracket from around cpu to mount the BT....my bracket is vertical so in this pic you can quite make it out but only had to set plate over base and use a #2 phillips bit tip to tighten down....by the way how tight should i have these?? because they are only as tight as I could not grip the bit very well...

It won't break your mobo in half per-say but theres always the risk. I run an xp120 simply because I knew I'd be doing some stupid stuff with my PC and it'd be fine.

I used to have a PC with a volcano12 in it, and man was that thing heavy. And it also just clipped on, I had my case literally roll in the back of my car and still operate fine. So some freak instances are going to happen, but don't take them to heart so much.

Sorry to hear man, IMO don't use the BT no more, get the ZM 9500 instead, works better and reliable. Sell the BT off ebay or melt it on grill or something.

It's about the weight distribution, Big Typhoon has most of its weight focused on the fins and not the base, thus a bigger chance of breaking off, unlike Scythes and Tuniqs where the weight is more focused on the base. Sorry to hear.

Wow that sucks. My Scythe Infinity weighs about 960grams but the weight is more distributed in the base of it.
