New mobo help.

Thread Starter
So I just got my new pc up and running. I am using my 1090T with a ASRock 970 Extreme 3. So far its great but I cant use the Corsair Vengeance Ram that I got. Its 8gb 2x4gb. The mobo is compatible with it. But my question is why wont my windows 7 ultimate 64 bit boot with one of the sticks or two in my mobo?

Their memory compatibility list doesnt list any of the Vengeance line, but that doesnt really mean it wont absolutely work- it just means they havnt tested it with any vengeance memory.

Have you tried the memory in another machine to make sure its not DOA? Are you getting any POST screens or anything?

Read through your manual and make sure you are putting the memory in the correct slots. A2 and B2 is recommended for 1600mhz+

It picks up the ram in the bios and shows its there and that's for both sticks. So it's not DOA. And I have tried all of them. Another thing that pops up is windows error recovery comes up with the ram in. Which will then lead to the circles freezing on the starting windows screen.

Download Memtest86+, burn it onto a CD, set your BIOS to boot from your CD drive. Memtest will test your memory for errors and report it to you. You might be getting a bunch of memory errors when you are loading Windows.

http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.iso.zip direct download
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

Were you able to try to install the memory in another machine?

Well after more testing and after a few mintues and one epic face palm that I had to suffer, I decided to test out both sticks of my old ram that are 2gb a piece and are 1333. Upon testing this the same error came to screen. After thinking about the issue with Windows Vista I checked my system properties to realize that I did not download 7 SP1. Which I thought they fixed the issue with not being able to use more then 2gbs of ram on the initial stall. So after these updates install including the SP1 I will try my ram again. Hopefully get better results if not I will try your method RX. This has been a long day with building this pc lol. I literally havent done anything else. Sorry if this is hard to read im doing two things at once.

Try not to worry about it. Even if they do fail Memtest, most ram has lifetime warranty on it, so you should be fine.

Edit: Also, it may be an issue with your motherboard, considering both sets of ram were rejected.

64bit W7 doesnt have those issues. If your system came up with the same errors, freezes and reboots while loading windows- your MB is probably the culprit.

I don't get this. So it turns out that I can't boot with more then 2gbs of ram on my mobo. Any ideas I'm stumped right now. My 2 2gbs sticks can't be used together and neither of my 4gbs. Da fudge.
