I have to agree with most people that have posted in this thread so far.

My time spent gaming has decreased over the years, but I still find a small amount of time here and there. The time spent has decreased because I have other important things to do, or other things that have become more important as time as went on. Ex. Research/work, and women. When I was much younger, I didn't have research to accomplish, labs to teach, or women to chase. That being said, tonight I am going to game and bum around the house; it's going to be great. I plenty accomplished this week, there are no hot dates lined up (say what you will), no shows that I want to see, and I need to play some Borderlands 2 (I really like the graphics.)

As it was said earlier, after gaming for as long as I have (~23 years) most games just aren't entertaining. I know some of you have gamed for longer, and there are still good games that get produced, but my tastes are at the very least pickier than they used to be.

I can't say that all video games are aimed at a certain age demographic, especially with the fairly recent boom in "adult" themed video games. Sure pong didn't fit a certain age group and Doom was popular a good while ago, but imo there are many more FPS games than there used to be. Some of that is due to increases in technology; and I might argue that an increase in technology has decreased some genres like fantasy side-scrollers too.

I guess as long as you're having fun and can find enjoyment in the games, there's no /real/ reason to stop.

Video games should not be considered something that only kids do. Especially among those who take Fantasy Football the least bit seriously, or who throw a tantrum when their favorite sports team loses.

I'm 35 and have no intention of quitting because of what people think of me. biggrin.gif

Unless I somehow find the way to continually travel for the rest of my life I don't think I ever see myself giving up gaming in all entirety.

To say there is any specific age to stop playing games is the exact same as saying there's an age where you're too old to work on cars as a hobby, build small projects, should stop reading books, should stop watching tv, stop going to the theatres and theaters, stop playing sports of any kind, stop painting, going to the beach, the list is quite literally endless. Saying you become too old to do something that you enjoy, as long as it is legal and does not impede on other more important aspects of life, is just plain out ridiculous. The late Thomas Kincade was painting up until his unfortunate demise. That was just another form of art as gaming is now starting to become a modern aspect of art, in some regards. If nothing else, what work is put into making the games is truly art by many regards. Should we not endeavor ourselves to enjoy the many hours put into this art, as people go to museums to enjoy painted art? =]

there should absolutely no age where you should stop playing video games. That's completely up to the individual.

I don't have much time to game anymore, life happens after coolege college. Maybe an hour each night? Other nights, don't even have time. But I usually enjoy it when I get home, relaxes me...but that'll soon all change once I get married...bulb.gif
