You really are not going to see any benefit from a 200mhz increase. Have you increased your voltage at all? What was it at stock?

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/259899-29-core-overclocking-guide ..............Core2 series OC guide.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page-245679_11_0.html .................Gigabyte MB info. Not your exact board, but still useful info.

I overclocked my Core2Duo e6600 to 3.5 back in the day. Thought I was hot stuff lol.

i read somewhere that i cant go past 1.4v on a 45nm atleast because its dangerous. Also it has a stock cooler
post #4 of 21
You shouldnt need a bunch of extra voltage for a 200mhz overclock. The stock voltage should do it fine unless your memory is just refusing to run with the higher FSB.

i dont know if i do it past 2.81ghz it resets. Maybe theres some protection turned on in the bios.

er..I have some settings here.
clock skew 200
mch clock skew auto
bump cpu voltage
bump NB voltage a little
pll 1.6
fsb term..I don't remember this one..somewhere between 1.2-1.4..oh..oh..+.45 biggrin.gif
Giga likes loose RAM timings...slop all that up a notch.Make sure RAM is @ lowest divider
Only 2 dividers really work with giga

Set CPU host control to manual and set it to 333. (you'll get a speed of 3.5ghz)

Adjust your System Memory multiplier till you get close to 800 again. (As it will increase with the increase in CPU host frequency)

Set CPU voltage to 1.35v.

Bump the MCH voltage up by one notch.

Tried it still resets...

Tried a bit lower. Still resets..

Its like it doesnt let me go past 2.80Ghz . If i go higher it automatically restarts when trying to boot and just resets to previous settings.

I forgot, set PCI express Frequency to 100.

Bump MCH to +2.

Check these out and let me know.
