[Build Log] Amorphous - Silverstone FT02 Watercooling Build - Page 8

good choice haha

If you haven't ordered the radiator yet, did you consider getting a double 180mm, thick double 140mm, or slim triple 140mm radiator?
None of those would require any drilling or modification to the case and may provide the same/better cooling with less noise.

And there also seems to be plenty of space for a double thick 120mm radiator up top if your temps get really bad. Although whether itd be better to have that a top 120mm radiator as exhaust or intake, I have yet to figure out.

Well I already have 2x360 rads. Thick Coolgate and slim Alphacool (which is **** imo. gave me same temp on CPU as NH-D14). Coolgate is a low FPI rad and with my Corsair's AF (1100 rpm) I have perfectly silent build. I can't wait to put my hands on this case and experience that legendary Silverstone quality biggrin.gif

I have seen few FT02 builds but none of them with 240 on top. I'll have to take a look how much space there will be when I place Maximus mobo inside

Ah I see.

And whoops, I should've been more careful, I meant theres space for a single, double-thick 120mm. As in a single 120x120x60mm radiator.

My bad, I misunderstood. Well it should be possible to mount 240 on the bottom after some drilling and cutting but I don't want to cut this case as I cut my Haf X.
@natsu2014
If you buy the newest revision of the FT02, you should get a special adapter in order to mount a 240 rad in the bottom.

At least my FT02 came with one. Basically it's a 180mm to 120mm adapter, you get a pair of them, and mount them to the 240mm rad first, and then screw it to some of the holes in the AP-181s on the bottom.

Also this guy made a custom adapter in order to mount an H100 to the bottom of his case... But there's always the possibility of not having enough room for your graphics cards (depending on their length) with a radiator mounted on top of the AP-181's without removing the fan filters...

Hah I forgot about those brackets. My FT02 came with them as well, they're still sitting in the box.

I think if you use a 240 radiator though, it'll be too short to get in the way of the GPU.
Not even next to my desktop right now though, so cant say for sure.

Hmm.. Right now, I have the 35mm thick radiator + 32mm thick AP181 below my GPU. That leaves me with roughly 11" of space for my GPU.
I can measure exactly how much space I have for the GPU if you want.

Panda, first of all very nice build. Inspires me to go ahead and watercool my FT02 as well.

I was thinking of the same setup, magicool triple 180mm rad + stock AP fans + removing HDD cage. However I am concern about the clearance for the GPU.
I have a reference design 7970 which measures at 275mm as Sapphire stated in their spec. Wondering if this is too tight or do I have room for clearance?

Thanks! and hereee is your answer:

MSI Radeon 7970 OC 3GB Arrives!

Here is the nice pretty box:

The beast:

The 7970 next to my GTX 560 Non-Ti right after it was removed:

Quick before and after:

This MSI 7970 is supposed to be a reference PCB. I can see the AMD logo by the PCIe slot so I'm confident it is.
Fit in the FT02 with no problems. Theres still about 15mm of space between the end of the cooler and the AP181 fan from what I can see.

Will be drowning this card once I have some money. Cant wait cause holy **** this thing throws a lot of concentrated heat and makes a ton of noise.

oh my!!!

The msi hd7970 looks better than my sapphire's.

15mm clearance is a tight fit but enough to clear.

Which HD7970 waterblock will you be using once you have the funds ready?

Yea the looks of the MSI actually surprised me when I opened the box.
From all the pictures online it looked cheap and plastic-y, but in person it actually looks quite nice.

I was also concerned about the clearance, especially since I didnt want to have to remove that piece of tubing going to my CPU waterblock lol.
But it all went smoothly biggrin.gif and best of all, no sagging thanks to the FT02's rotated motherboard design.

I was considering a heatkiller block but I'll likely go with a EK CSQ full cover so it matches my CPU.
