I don't get microslutter at all with sli 580's and a 2700k. Sounds like it's definitely coded as a console port lol.

The game works better USING AN APU if you disable multithreading, but it works worse if you don't (the same with NVIDA). Note that I'm basing on the images posted in this very thread, so I have no idea where do you see a pattern here...

Apu? The article this thread is discussing has nothing at all to do with an apu. The author used a 2500k and a 6950.

And yeah, I just noticed the 6950. He's seriously using a 6950 for the test? A card that isn't even GCN which is what AMD believes is the culprit.

None of techreports articles that he's supposedly responding to used a 6000 series gpu.

Using a 6950 to compare results to what techreport got with a 7950. Good job.

I didn't notice the 6950 either.

There haven't been any stuttering issues or especially anomalous frame times in Skyrim with the 6950 in my other system.

So...not really sure what's going on here.

Seems like a decent workaround for those of us on high clocks but most were still gonna use Radeon Pro to help so....... this still affects joe shmoe who wouldn't know about this. Hopefully AMD/Bethesda release some kind of patch to help those affected. Maybe someone can just somehow infect all known copies of the Gamebryo so no one ever uses broken buggy software....... maybe kill off the consoles too.....

Hyperthreading is hardware, and will work even if the software is completely unaware of it (though some software awareness is needed for best utilization).

An AMD FX Module is two cores that happen to share a front-end, a dual 128-bit FPU, and some cache. This is way less than what logical processors share in a hyper-threaded system, and not really any more than certain other multi-core parts have shared in the past.

This kind of thing is long overdue on bethesda titles.

It's an issue thats bothered me since Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Frequent, constant stuttering that doesn't seem to go away no matter what i do (aside from low resolutions) or how much money (hardware) i throw at it.

Shame that it's took so long for sites like this to bring it to peoples attention. I Agree with the writers conclusion that this is the result of bad PC ports and consolization of otherwise good titles. Damn developers need to get their priorities straight.


Although the stuttering may not always be visually noticeable, it's something you can quite easily "feel" through the controls. Much like how higher framerates make games feel more responsive, the real change is felt in the controls. Something i believe alot of people don't realize, especially those who like to argue about the max framerate the eye can see.

I dont think so, my 2GB 680 plays fine, and at one point I had over 100 mods, so many graphical and texture mods.

This is why people shouldn't listen to the advice of "2gb" is plenty. Once you stack a few texture mods on, it can bring a 2gb card to its knees. Mods are the reason I can't buy 2 690's, not enough VRAM
