I dont think a pci extender would help much, as I still have to access the hdmi outtake.

Yup, 5870 is longer than my XFX dd 7950, so I was using that as an example,

Are you saying that the case is too small for cards 5mm longer than 5870, or for cards 5mm longer than 7950?

5mm more, and your going to find your self into problems, it won't fit with 5mm more, unless you use a PCI-E extender ribbon cable, you would have to find a way to use your display cables then, it's not worth it, get the XFX DD 7950 3GB, if it fits in my Storm Scout, it will fit in yours smile.gif

1 other alternative is to remove your HDD cage if you know DIY thumb.gif

So you mean 5mm more than 7950? That's too bad, I really wanted 7970 frown.gif

Is it possible to remove just the HDD cage by not cutting anything?

7950 now comes with the 7970 PCB, so they are the same size, Twin Frozr will unlikely fit due to it being longer than the PCB

The 5870 is 26,7 cm, isnt it?

xfx 7950 is 26.2
powercolor 7970 is 26.5. Will powercolor fit?

EDIT: Here's someone that fits a 7970 black edition dd According to THIS page, he didnt need any modding, but I find that strange as the BE is 27.5 cm.

Here's someone else fitting 7970 BE dd

Also it says that powercolor fits with a little bending, but that powecolor is with stock gpu cooler

It's a risk you will have to take, the 7950 and 7970 are the same size, as they both use the same PCB.

You only have soo much room to force it into place, the only reason I managed to get a XFX 5970 to fit was because of the slight curve at the end of the heatsink as you can see in the pic below, if it was straight without a curve, I woulden't be able to get it to fit because of the HDD cage

Finally, spent most of the day cutting, sawing and bending the aliminum with the wrong tools. Now there should be 28,5 cm free space for the 7970 vapor x edition! But the card better not be any longer than that.
