If you don't play alot of RAM intensive games.. you can always lower or turn off your HD PF and that will just boost up overall system performance.
I agree with the above.

The general rule of thumb seems to be that if you're running 2GB in XP, to get a similar experience in Vista you'd need double that, in practice this isn't really the case but the point is, Vista on its own uses more RAM than many nicely coded games running a RAM hungry game under Vista is going to eat 2GB of RAM alive lol.

Thread Starter
I was reading that 1GB in Vista under games would be like 1536mb Ram under XP. They optimized Vista

Not true... think of BH-5 vs... UCCC. 2 gigs of UCCC at DDR500 can do, at best, 3-3-3-6. Compare that to the BH-5's 1.5-2-2-0 at that speed. The BH-5 would be faster, even with the 4-stick overhead.

Yes you will see an overall boost in system performance and games. The More memory you have the more Data that can be stored into the RAM at anyone time which is faste than accesing data off the HDD.

Obviously they will because the 1GB sticks have higher timings. But come on, who upgrades ram for benches? The difference is in games. Don't even attempt BF2 or Oblivion at the highest quality with 1GB.

I was saying if it were same RAM.. like 4x512 TCCD,UCCC,BH-5,D-9.. whatever, is slower then 2x1GB. And no matter what RAM you have, in an AMD system if you have 4 sticks they'll run at 2T which is just slow.
