First Build - Do my components match?

Thread Starter
Hi, Ive been lurking on these forums for a while now. I'm going to build my first PC soon, I just wanted to know if these specs are ok and if everything goes well together.

Im not set on the SSD so it may change to another brand. Is there be anything else i should get?

I have a few questions about my components;

Is my motherboard compatible with the processor?
Is the power supply enough for the pc?
I went with 1600 RAM is there any difference with higher and lower ones?
Should i go with a different cooler or is the H80 still good?

Thanks in advance for all your help smile.gif

Should i go with a different cooler or is the H80 still good? Good for 3570k

That's a lot of PSU for what you have there. You'd be fine with a quality 550W, and then you could put the difference into a 660 Ti instead of the 660.

id get a more then needed power supply so you have upgrade potential for the future.

Welcome to the PC master race!

Very solid build so far! 16GB memory is probably overkill depending on what you do, that money could go into something else like getting the TI version of that graphics card. 1600 speed is perfect for you. And the power supply is fine as well, a bit much currently but considering SLI/upgrades down the road its great. I would probably go with the H100i rather than the H80i as your case can hold it and will give you more cooling performance for the same cost. I can personally recommend the H100i thumb.gif

Good luck, and have fun building it! biggrin.gif

Thank you all for your advice, I'll look into the 660 TI, just looking to see how much power it needs.

I can change the RAM to 8GB, i have been looking at the 660 TI but there are different version and im not really sure which one to get as EVGA has multiple one such as signature series.

Thanks again for all your help biggrin.gif

You don't need 16 GB unless you do extreme multi-tasking, I barely use 5 GB on my system and I have 16 GB available. (Maybe 1866mhz RAM could be nice though)

Save on the memory and get a GTX 660 TI. If you play in 1080p, get a 2GB version, if you play above this (Ex:1440p or 1600p) get the 3GB version. I would honestly get the cheapest GTX 660ti.

AX760i aka overpriced stuff. Same goes for the H80i.

Drop to a good 550W or 600W PSU (Corsair/Seasonic are overpriced) and get a Thermalright Macho, its £38 and it will cool just as good as an H80i in Quiet Mode.

Then use the extra money for a better SSD like the Plextor M5S and a Radeon HD 7950 which is a great card and has FAR better value than Nvidia current cards.

Also, go with the Samsung Magic Memory which is cheap and overclocks great. 8GB is fine.

If you don't need a 2TB HDD I have thrown in the Western Digital WD10EZEX which altrough being a Caviar Blue perform better than the current drives and has a single 1TB-platter.
If you want to stick with 2TB I would keep the Seagate you chose. thumb.gif

Thanks, Ive gone down to 8GB, im still looking at the 660 TI.

I read on the forums here that the Crucial M4 is a pretty good SSD, so I' m looking at the Crucial 128GB M4

Its just the Power Supply and the cooler that I'm still a bit unsure about.

Also is there much of a difference between the GA-Z77-D3H and the GA-Z77X-D3H, looking online there doesn't seem to be?

Edit; The 2TB is for games, i have another drive for data
