Also, im worried the south bridge heatsink is 70-80% covered with less than 1 cm of clearance from the GTX 560 video card and is definitely at least 10C hotter than before. Is it worth moving the video card down to the bottom slot? The card will run hotter because of clearance from bottom of case, but the south bridge will be open to air flow again. Not sure if that will cause issues from the mother board side, do i need the card to be in top slot?

If this south bridge is going to give me trouble when i upgrade to second card ether way, then i'll have to look into replaceing the heatstink with something else due to clearance issues, or get a new mother board all together. Curious what you all think.

Thanks again for all the support so far.

There you go, 750 Corsair with 10 dollar code, free shipping, and comes with a 20 buck rebate card, now as far as the mobo since you're talking about eventual SLI then it's only a temporary fix. Either replace the motherboard or get some fans for cooling , maybe upgrade your case if the one you have now has bad airflow. thumb.gif

*edit* Just saw your case, it's not so bad so maybe getting a new mobo with better cooling and heatsinks is in order.

850 watts is more then enough for SLI and Crossfire no need to go for 1000 watts PSU not unless you are going for a third card

Going to order some more cooling while im replacing PSU. The CPU has a standard issue heatsink/fan combo, would like to replace that, AM3 socket, like to avoid covering memory with anything too big. The case has 2 exit air fans on the top back, thinking a large heatsink with side fan to push hot air off the sink and out the 2 case exit fans. Curious what you all think. Dont want to spend more then 45-50$ max and keep noise low.

Hyper 212+ EVO is always a nice bang for buck and maybe get two nice 120/140mm fans for a p/p, you could get those three for under $50 depending on the fans you choose but the 212 does come with one so only another is really needed..

Looking in the marketlace here a couple of good deals on fans and heatsinks.

Some Yates here but look through the threads here and see if you like anything

Love that heatsink, was looking at a similar one earlier. Curious though, it says it fits AM3+, I have an AM3 socket. Does AM3+ include just AM3 or will it too big/small/etc?

am2/am2+/am3/am3+ are essentially the same for cooling.

So i got the 750W PSU and even grabbed a 212 evo coolmaster for 22$ while i was at it and did a total overhaul on pc. Also removed a toolbox right behind the front intake fan to increase flow in case. The popping sound, the burning smell, was indeed the crap PSU that came with case. The new set up runs like a dream with no volt increase at 3.9ghz. OC at around 25 C idle and 44 C gaming.

Planetside 2 was siting at 15-20 fps at best before new graphic card, psu, and overclock, now i dont think ive been under 50 fps for more than a second lol. Thanks for all the help!
