quick question about flashing this x850pro :)

Thread Starter
Hi guys, just a quick question... want to be extra careful and stuff..
anyways..

my ATI Tool says I can UNLOCK the extra 4 pipes on this x850pro AGP
that's fine and all.. the problem I have is..

is it possible I can revert back to the 12 pipes, once I've unlocked it? and if so.. that does mean I can flash it back to 16 later! and so forth

I don't want this card running on 16 pipes with this POS stock cooler, so I want to see if it's going to work, then flash it back.. and then get a nice fan.

hope I didn't confuse anyone.. the question was
can I revert back to 12 pipes after I've flashed it to 16?

thanks!

No need. The temperatures will not increase significantly with unlocked pipelines and if the temperatures do increase enough that the card is getting to hot you can just underclock it.

That card can handle up to 90*C without a problem. So you can probably safely clock it back up.

When i flashed mine the fan did the same thing... They have a bad ahbbit of doing so when you flash them. Though impretty sure that if it were a vf900 HS and Fan it would have continued to work for some reason. is that right? Coulda swore i read that somewhere.

*edit* i think i posted to watch for that in your previous post...

well.. it's all good and stuff.. but I WANT MORE OUT OF IT! lol

I want my 16 pipes and x850xtpe bios.. but I need a good cooling solution.

what do your recommend me going with? Zalman VF-900 or the Actic Cooling 5 revision 2.. the one for x800/x850s.

any help would be greatly appreciated.. as always THANKS!

kk, all set and good to go

I got my zalman vf900 setup, flashed this baby to an x850XTPE, (4 pipes unlocked)
my current clock
core: 540
mem:587

default clocks were both set at 500

idle temp: 30C
loading temp: was around 45C or so.. so I'm happy, not getting the least bit hot

I'm very pleased, I'm pretty sure I can OC this a bit more.. but it's good enough for now.. thanks for all the help everyone provided!

w00t!
