Windows 8 on SSD, Trying to Add HDD

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time I'm desperate enough to ask for help.

I recently built a new PC with a Vertex 4. I followed Sean's Windows 8 Install & Optimization Guide and it worked great. However, I want to add a secondary HDD (WD Caviar Black 1TB) now, and I'm having some troubles.

I looked around the forums, and found many people in my same boat: HDD can be seen on device manager/BIOS but not the disk manager or My Computer. Then I came upon the article: "How to: Setup SSD boot drive with secondary Hard disc optimization", and it basically means I have to set up Windows all over again.

I kind of don't want to do this. Is there another way about doing this? Thanks!

So it does not show up in disk management but does in device manager? hmm

How about diskpart?

Can you try another SATA port?

No reinstall needed for this.

Hey guys, thanks so much for replying!

I did get a initial prompt (the first one) to initialize the disk, and I selected MBR and OK. Though, no further prompts popped up and I wasn't able to reformat anything. I think I'll use WD's program to erase everything again and try it later. (I'm away from that particular computer atm.)

I haven't tried another SATA port, but I only have 2 6Gbps ports and the first one is already taken by the SSD. I'll try to use one of the 3Gbps ports when I get a chance.

I haven't checked diskpart either. Let me get back to you guys on that; it might take a week or so unfortunately because I'm at school and this is the computer I built for my parents.

Sorry for the super late reply. I said a week, but it ended up being a month. Thanks for the link, diskpart via command prompt worked wonderfully!
