I'm still trying to figure out what the USG is doing leading a case against an Australian company with a German owner?

This.

Wait, wait, wait... I know, because the US is playing World Police. That's why.

Why am I not surprised?

Oh, maybe it is because the US Justice Department and the US Attorney General are so upstanding....

As for your comparisons; as far as I'm aware, it's the US that is pressuring countries to pass laws that limit/restrict internet freedom, thanks to that entertainment industry again.

China has a long history of oppresion. Egypt had/has (? there was recent turmoil over something, dunno if it's resolved yet) dictatorship, so it's natural for the government to want to limit interaction/communications with the rest of the world. Same goes for Syria. Hell, Iran's cut off internet completely, trying to stop western influence.

Are you seriously telling me you're okay with comparing your country with those? Last I heard, USA was the land of freedom. Full of ideals and high standards. What happened?

PS. Hope I'm not passing as too aggressive, just counterpointing.
You jest, but the way this thing's going, you never know..

Do you have proof for that statement about the US pressuring other countries about internet control? Last time I check China doesn't listen to us for squat.

The US may not be completely free but it still has more freedom than most countries. I know I can go to a gun show right and buy an ak47 assualt rifle and get as much ammo as I want and I don't have to register it. I consider that to be a pretty nice freedom.

Greece is definitely more corrupt than the US.
What's going on.

Edit:- For example, here in Ireland our Junior Minister Seán Sherlock passed into law the ‘Irish SOPA’. Without any say from the people. Despite the protests and petitions. All because the government was afraid that Ireland was going to be placed on that list.

http://www.thejournal.ie/sherlock-confirms-that-%E2%80%98irish-sopa%E2%80%99-has-been-signed-into-law-369634-Feb2012/

Edit 2:- Another example in Sweden.

http://falkvinge.net/2011/09/05/cable-reveals-extent-of-lapdoggery-from-swedish-govt-on-copyright-monopoly/

There are numerous cases of this happening. Spain immediately springs to mind.

Yeah, US doesn't control the internets? ICANN. And they won't give it over it anyone else or let anyone else take a say.

Seems like some users provided proof above me. Why do you people associate gun control with freedom? I get that your culture has a strong association with guns. I've seen what good it has done over there, and to be honest I've never had the need or want for a weapon. And hell, if I want to shoot one, I can always go to a shooting range.

Also, why are you deflecting? I never claimed my country was or wasn't more or less corrupted. But Greece's corruption is confined locally. It doesn't affect you in any way. Same can't be said about USA.

Little bit of both actually. What killed us was tax evasion, especially from our politicians and upper class. Once we signed the memorandum and surrendered the country to the IMF, we also signed our economic death. It was mostly political incompetence against Germany's pressure that lead to our calamity.
