Getting a Dualshock 3 controller to work on PC without MotioninJoy?

I have searched the internet high and low on how to use my Dualshock 3 on my PC emulators, with the general result being to get MotioninJoy.

First of all, that program is absolute garbage; to me, I personally consider it malware. The drivers it installs somehow manage to **** up my mice, keyboard, bluetooth, etc. Trying to undo the damage it causes by having to install all of this crap is a real pain in the ass, so I just end up reformatting my computer to undo the damage. Like, seriously, do I really have to do all this **** just to remove one garbage program and its effects from my computer?

Secondly, you have to be connected to the internet all the time to use the program. What kind of bull**** is that? If I am at school with my laptop in study hall where there is no way to connect to the internet (other than snaking a 50-foot long ethernet cable across the cafeteria), how in the **** am I supposed to use Dualshock 3/Sixaxis controllers from my friends and I on emulators? Is the purpose of that **** just to show me ******* ads that I don't give two ****s about?

Third, the interface looks like it was designed by a 10-year old. It just looks ugly and is somewhat confusing to navigate. Let us not forget the few spelling errors found throughout the program (even on the latest version).

Fourth, when I do manage to get everything set up and get into my emulator to configure the buttons, the buttons are just randomly pressed, and never seem to work when I want them to. What a crock of ****. At least I have a lovely battery-charging led lightshow on the back of my controller to stare at.

There has to be something else I can use to use my Dualshock 3 controller on PC emulators. Hell, I can use Xbox 360 controllers, Wiimotes, and practically any other controller ever made on my PC (provided I have an adapter to connect it to my PC), so why in the **** can I not use a Dualshock 3, which can be directly connected via usb OR connected via bluetooth? If I can connect it to my Galaxy Note II on emulators wirelessly, why in the **** can I not connect it to a Windows 8 PC?

My question is this; is there any other working software or drivers I can use to connect my lovely, comfortable Dualshock 3 controller to my PC to play on emulators with? Is there any other hardware that I can buy to make it work?

I remember playing dark souls this summer with my ps3 controller. I think it bluescreened everytime the computer hibernated with motioninjoy turned on so when I was gaming late into the night and couldn't be bothered go to the endof the bed to close it I'd wake up to a rebooted pc. I didn't have to be constantly connected to the internet though. Searching online you can download a local file to get around the internet thing.

A few years ago when I used emulators for PS2 I definitely had it set up differently with a plugin called something like PS3 plugin but it was very basic.

try reading this. in it he links to these drivers.

Wow, you have had some serious problems with motioninjoy. I have been using it for a few years to play emulators and as a replacement xbox controller for my pc. I've literally had none of the problems you have had. I've used it on Win 7 and Win 8 without a hiccup. To be honest, you're SOL, as there are pretty much no other options for using a ps3 controller on pc, especially if you wanna use it in wireless mode. Just stick to an xbox 360 controller and save yourself the headache since you and motioninjoy seem to not get along.

Just use a USB adapter for a PS2 controller. Its my primary gaming pad for all applicable PC games. I purchased that USB adapter about 4 years ago for $15 shipping included. A brand new PS2 pad + the USB adapter is still cheaper than a PS3/360 pad, and they are a hell of a lot more durable than Logitech junk, which the rubber inserts below the buttons wear incredibly easily.

For some reason and I never could figure out why, but any time I plugged in a PS3 pad into my PC, I was getting random and frequent BSODs, and as soon as I removed the controller I never got another one since. Can someone explain to me what would cause hooking in a PS3 pad into a USB port to BSOD a PC? I suspect its a driver conflict, and/or windows mistook it for being another device and installed the wrong driver for the pad? Or is this just a convenient way for Micro$oft to con you into buying a 360 pad?

I'm having issues installing motherboards BLUETOOTH drivers are they need it or just plug the motion so the B2 drivers is detected by the motioninjoy driver manager?

Sorry but when I plug in I only get 1 driver to install think B2 is missing there? and thats maybe I need to activate something on my motherboard so it could detect b2 devices...any help?

When you first start up MotioninJoy, and after you connect the PS3 controller by USB, you should see that the controller has been detected.

Make sure the controller option you are using is the right one (ps3 dualshock/sixaxis), click the vibration test button, if it works, click "enable"

Then navigate to the driver tab, where you will need to load the motioninjoy drivers to overwrite your BT dongles existing driver (install all)

Then you need to navigate to the Bluetooth tab, and pair the devices, once that's done, return to the first tab, check vibration is ok, and click enable.

When you disconnect you PS3 controller, it should change from USB to Bluetooth

I would like that it worked as easy as that but I never got the bluetooth driver installed so I could not choose get it to pair, just indentify with the USB. I can't clue if the joystick is original or not.

I saw some videos on youtube that they were comparing different ps3 joysticks and everyone talk about the 6 screw hole, if it got 5 holes can it be necessairly fake?

it got also sharp lights when I move my finger through them I feel them sharp.

Also when I shake the controller I hear like small things not break things just the ps button analogs and maybe something else cheering..

I had a similar issue to that with my old USB BT dongle, just wouldn't pair properly with the PS3 controller via motioninjoy / ds3 tool

i had to get a 2.1 EDR dongle and after that it worked OK - if your using onboard bluetooth.. i.e. motherboarded then it's possible you might be lacking a required element / component / feature (don't know which one) which is preventing the pairing..

that's all i can think of right now, get yourself a proper 2.1 EDR, (cost about £3 - £7) and keep your onboard BT with it's intended drivers,

And yes, it sounds like you "might" have a counterfeight PS3 controller - I've bought one of those before and the difference between them and the authentic article is slight... but all the same - even the counterfeight controller i had STILL worked using Motioninjoy / DS3 tool... so go figure

Motioninjoy always worked fine for me, even back when it required you to boot into debug mode to use it. That said, I've always just plugged in a USB cable. Wireless is for chumps.

Mmmm... and after you get that mini bluetooth adapter, do you need the drivers for that new adapter and it would pair with the ds3 tool?

As if you could even notice the difference. Even with my tiny hands the added weight of a cable is entirely negligible.

Yeah same here, I use it all the time (although its connected by cable I cant get it to work wirelessly) and its fine, no problems at all. Maybe you need to try it on a fresh install of OS?

no, motioninjoy overwrites the existing BT drivers for the dongle - essentially making it a motioninjoy dongle - as you cant use the dongle for regular BT connections once the drivers are installed - unless you reinstall the original drivers - which will make motioninjoy useless again... don't think you can use one BT dongle for both simultaneously

#20 ·
as for wired controllers - USB sega Saturn & N64 controllers with an adapter are the only acceptable wired ones i'd use for any reason - regular ps2 controllers are ok but seem pointless if you have six-axis or dualshock 3, and of course you'd need an adapter aswell, which will probably cost more than the bt dongle in any case

I'll give it a try to the:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-To-Mini-Bluetooth-Dongle-V-2-1-Class-2-20-Metres-/200753719400?pt=UK_Computing_Networking_SM&hash=item2ebddaa868#ht_2463wt_1142

hope it works when I plug in I don't want to play with the short cable that I have right now... prey for it.. ty... I'll update what happen with it after I installed properly.

UPDATE:

It didn't work it doesnt supported

25 , 26, 39 Its old bluetooth dogle usb adapter. (fail)

Is this alright for connecting the the PS3 controller, seems pretty new usb 3.0... etc

There is a driver out for the ps3 controller that work perfect without any software, but you have to install them manually
you need to have the usb cable connected. I have the driver backup on mediafire,
I don't know if I can link it on the forum so if you want to try it just pm me.
