Will my mobos JCOM port work as a serial port?

Thread Starter
I have the MSI 785GT-E63 motherboard ( http://www.msi.com/product/mb/785GT-E63.html?div=Detail#/?div=Detail ) and i need a serial port to program ICs with. Can i hook one of these up too the JCOM port? ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158115 )

In the mobo details it says 1 serial port, and there id not one on the back of the board so i assume there is a plug on it somewhere. I didnt know if it was the JCOM or not.

Looking at the MSI page, the serial port is the one on top of the DVI connector.
Do you miss it on your board?

Out of curiosity, which kind of ICs do you need to program? smile.gif
